Why does my Sony STR-K750P AV receiver automatically switch to Video 2?

My Sony STR-K750P automatically switches to Video 2. I select a different input, DVD, Video 1, CD, etc, but within 3 minutes, it will switch back to Video 2. It might take 10 seconds or it might take 3 minutes, but it always switches back to Video 2. I have my Sony KDS-55A2000 TV and a Comcast Scientific American cable box hooked up and a DVD player hooked up to the receiver. I've tried to use RCA cables and optical on Video 2 to see if that made a difference. I've also put my DVD player on Video 2 input instead of my cable box, but no matter what I do, it's the same story, it switches back to Video 2. Has anyone else had an issue like this before?

Some models of systems will switch to a new source automatically if the source sees a new signal coming on. Try disconnecting the device on your Video 2 to see if this is the case.

I have seen the IC or component(s) in the switching circuits become defective and cause unpredictable or faulty operation. This can also be a fault condition you are seeing.

SOURCE: sony str-dg820. having a problem getting video on tv

Hook up Composite / Component Monitor Out wire from receiver to TV video input because receiver will not change analog input into HDMI
You need to connect receiver and TV through analog video terminals as above.
Actually you are expecting that receiver will convert DVD player and Xbox analog video input into digital HDMI signal for TV and This is incorrect.

SOURCE: Sony PCM 48 Issue

As long as you continue to have both HDMI and optical outputs connected at same time from the cable box, it will probably always choose the default as HDMI. If you do not want to change any connections then the best thing to do in this case is to always leave the cable box turned on. Otherwise, disconnect the HDMI and connect it to the TV by component video.

Run both audio and video to the tv, then use the tv optical audio out to go back to the receiver. The problem is, when you split the signal, the tv takes longer to decode the hdmi signal =, thus delaying it from the original audio signal.

The digital sound is off after 1 houre str de sony str de 485

It sounds like the receiver is either failing or going into a thermal protection mode.

There should be NO reason why the input source (digital versus analog) should make a difference unless you play the digital sources obscenely louder than the analog ones.

If you suspect heat, you should be able to feel it.

Can you verify that the digital sources ONLY do this?
