Scangear Error I have a canon MP610. When I try to scan using the MP Navigator software I get a Scangear error message ''The scanner is not available while in use by another application or user''.

How do I disable Auto Crop

There are three ways to stop autocropping in the CanoScan software. (Trick 1) ScanGear window: If using ScanGear driver (via Canon MP Navigator EX) to scan, the most important trick is nothing to do with the cropping settings and everything to do with a little button in the top left corner of the ScanGear driver window called "Switches on/off the thumbnails view mode". Click that to make the crop full platen-sized as well as make sure all your Preferences for Preview are Cropping Frame for Previewed images is set to NONE. (Trick 2) If using Canon MP Navigator EX to Scan, just make sure the settings in (1) above are completed, and no cropping will occur. (Trick 3) If accessing your scanner through your Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Devices and Printers, CanoScan (whatever device name), then when the scanner winodow appears, there will be a small box entitled Preview or Scan images as separate files. Make sure to untick this box, and cropping will cease. If you actually want cropping, do the opposite of all the above tricks to enable it.

There are no directions on how to use the scanner on the MX320 printer. How do I know if I have the right program and if I have how do I manage to scan?

Scanning Methods
You can select from the various scanning methods.
>If You Want to Edit or Print the Scanned images MP Navigator EX enables you to edit the scanned images, such as optimizing or trimming. You can also start application software from MP Navigator EX to edit or print the scanned images. For detailed operations of MP Navigator EX, refer to the Scanning Guide on-screen manual. You can also use the Operation Panel to open MP Navigator EX as well as open it using the computer.

>If You Want to Scan Originals with Advanced Settings ScanGear enables you to scan originals with advanced settings such as the resolution. For detailed operations of ScanGear, refer to the Scanning Guide on-screen manual.
Besides the above-mentioned methods, you can use a TWAIN- or WIA- (Windows Vista and
Windows XP only) compliant application software and the Control Panel (Windows Vista and
Windows XP only) to scan originals with this machine. For detailed operations, refer to the
Scanning Guide on-screen manual.
>Opening MP Navigator EX using the Operation Panel
>>(Macintosh only) Prepare your computer before scanning. This operation is not necessary for Mac OS X v.10.4.x.User's Guide on-screen manual.
>>Turn on the machine.
>>Load the original document on the Platen Glass or the ADF.
>>Press the SCAN button, then press the Color or Black button.

I found these directions from your Canon PIXMA MX310 User's Manual online (page 24). Other functions are available for reading.

To make sure you have got the correct program that you are using, uninstall all associated programs from your computer thru "Programs and Features" that can be found in Control Panel. Then, you may download your printer's drivers and softwares thru this LINK. Make sure to download the appropriate version for your Windows.

Network ScanGear can't discover Canon IR 3220

Had the same problem with my Canon IR2018i... After spending about all day stuffing around and ready to give up... I read in the Color Network Scangear User Manual that
"Only scanners on the same subnet (network with the same network ID) as your computer are displayed in the list"
So I went the the TCP/IP settings on my copier and changed my subnet mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.255.255 and magically my scanner appeared....
Give it a go...

Canon Pixma MP130 error 5200

Simple! After saying a prayer, I pulled the power lead from the printer (whilst it was still switched on) then I replaced it. Hey presto! Everything returned to normal!

The moral of this story is: do the simplest things first, rather than uninstalling, re-installing, etc. as I had previously tried to no avail.

Caution: if you do think of uninstalling MP Navigator, consult the Users' Guide - there is a correct order for doing this, otherwise you end up with MP Navigator on board and unable to either uninstall it or re-install from the CD, as I did.

Fortunately, there is still Omnipage and Scangear available which can cope perfectly with all scanning needs.

'unable to save file. the system cannot find the path specified'

Had this same problem and just fixed it. You need to actually change the button settings in Navigator. Open MP navigator and choose One-Click, then click Button Settings. You can choose a new save destination from here. Even though you are using the software instead of the button on the device, it works.

My Canon MP510 scanner won't scan - the printer works fine, but I can't get it to scan. It used to work just fine.

Try using your scanner from your computer, I'm using windows XP and when i go to My Computer and the printer is connected i see a section that says Scanner and Cameras, your printer should be there, click on it and follow the easy step to scan a document.

Unable to select TWAIN source

tried uninstallin and installin canon scanner drivers..nothing works..still seeing unable to select twian source..

so i tried an alternative..here we go..
on vista 64 os/vista any version..click Start>All programs>Windows fax and scan

next click new scan on top and that got me going.

some say there are issues with the way usb talks to old scanners with new operating systems like mine (vista 64). hope it helps until you find the actual cure.

Canon mp610 scanning problem

The readme says that some USB hubs have an issue.

I was having problems and was connected via a hub. I removed the hub and connected the printer directly to the back of the PC and voila scanning is all good.

Error Message

I had the same problem.Adding twain_32.dll to the Windowsfolder solved the problem.For people who don't want to search for it: Look Here.
Then you won't get this error but one saying to reinstall the printer driver. Just do it and the problem is solved.
