I'm not sure what's going on with my Atom. Yesterday, I turned it on, and the today screen seemed all screwed up. I reset it as I usually do, and now, the atom hangs on that initial screen that pops up with the O2 sign on it. It will not move beyond that. I've tried resetting it several times. I've also tried the hard reset, taken out the battery and put it back in and the atom is still hanging. I'd appreciate any other suggestions!
Thanks...

Re: Welcome Screen hangs
It's a pretty tricky job to do by yourself. First, you need to reinstall ROM (operating system, bios, firmware), you can't however do that by yourself because you will be needing an active sync connection for this to work. If you can't boot to windows, you can't active sync. It is risky to try to put the Atom into flash mode and attemt a ROM update yourself. A compatible ROM version or a ROM image is somewhat difficult to find for Atom's.
You should try the basic things, hard reset again, remove battery, let it unconnected all night and connect it back, then a hard reset again. If all these doesn't work I advice you to send your Atom to a specialised service to have the ROM update done properly.
Yes, it will be best to send it (it's more safe then to attempt ROM update by yourself).Yes, it will be best to send it (it's more safe then to attempt ROM update by yourself).

It seems there is fault on your software and so might require a reinstallation . Remove the battery and then switch on the phone , if the phone seems to HANG up then the software can be the issue. It is ideal to get this confirmed before you reload .
Whats happening is that the TV' sets of today are really PC's dedicated to a TV tuner..sort of.. As such, well PC's, hang up, get into "Loops" and the like. Also as such they need to be "Reset" to clear any faults, now sometime the circuit called the P.O.R. "Power On Reset", well, it doesn't... and it often takes a couple of "Reboots" to clear the "Fault".
you should reset your phone.reset code is 1234.after that "align screen" shows
tap the screen at target for few moment untill align screen does not go.it takes several attemp.after align screen disappear time & date setting option appear.set it.after this window will reinstalling.it takes few minutes.after this phone will be started.
At the expense of your data-loss,
atleast you get your device working back.
To perform a hard-reset on your O2 Xda Atom,
Keep pressed the POWER key, and then perform soft reset. After the device this leave everything and confirm that you want to hard-reset as shown on the screen.
when it hangs press the reset button..
if u dont find it i can tell u how it looks like
it loosks like a hole or a pinhole on the bottom ,top or sides
if u find it poke it using a pin and it swiches off
then try swiching on your mp4
If your monitor is showing weird colors before the Windows XP welcome screen then it might be that your monitor is bad. Try hooking up a different monitor and see if the colors look fine as the computer is booting up, if it does then you know the original monitor is bad, if the colors still look weird then you know your video card is going bad.
As far as the lockups are concerned, with the computer turned off, take out the memory. With a can of air, blow some on the contacts of the memory and into the memory slots on the motherboard. You want to do this to make sure that there is no dust or dirt cause that can cause lockups to happen.
I've tried all those things you've suggested, so I guess the next step would be to send it in.
Thanks again for your help.
