I have a Philips PW9527 CRT set which is about four years old. Recently, it has developed thin blue lines across the screen about half an inch apart which get closer together near to the top of the screen. These lines are across the full width of the screen except for across the middle where they start about an inch in from the sides. Also, the picture has a decidedly blue cast to it with blacks looking navy. I have adjusted the colour, contrast and brightness which doesn't help. The tint setting is set to normal and I have tried turning off all the picture enhancement features as well as disconnecting all peripheral devices. There are no speakers close by or any other electrical equipment. Any suggestions very gratefully received!

Re: Blue tint and lines on screen.
Those lines sound like "retrace lines" and several things can cause them. The most common are shorts inside the picture tube and shorted semiconductors in the video driver circuits. They can also be seen if the blue screen voltage is too high or if someone has tampered with the screen voltage control.

This brand is known for getting discolored CRT cooling fluid in the blue and green CRTs. At 10 years old, it's almost for sure .. unless never used. A bit expensive repair. Don't attempt this yourself unless you're both a TV tech and a transmission mechanic ,, LOL.
THI IS THE INTERNAL CIRCUTRY FAULT BEST YOU
call the service person and dont try to open it other than in side of TV SET HAVING Hazard of electrical shock be handle most care fully .
and check video board and all.
Hello. I believe from your description that the vertical circuit has failed. either the IC or a capacitor. Sorry, but being only a 13" set I don`t recommend you repair it. unless you have a friend that would do it for you for the cost of the parts only.
you have a shorted green CRT that is affecting the other crts the short is internat to the crt that leaves what is called retrace lines. if the set is more than three years old then replace all three guns.
I would check the green signal all the wat to the display screen to determine is this is a signal problem or a system short. I would recommend that you take this set to a qualified electronics technician
The set is under a year old and is under warranty. The LVDS cable inside these sets have a history of coming loose. The problem could be the panel. Either way, the set is the problem and needs to be looked at.
This set is worked on in the home and does not need to be taken to a shop, so, you can still use it.
