Hello.. i didn't quite understand if the problem occured after you changed the HDD and then became permanent. However the possible reasons are the same in any cases.
Please note that a laptop mainboard can power on even without hard disks, ram , video card even without it's processor. That's because the motherboard itself "scans" for them AFTER it has been powered and the BIOS loaded (yep you can't start without BIOS)during POST (power on self test). If your motherboard can't power on now try the following. Remove the hard disk and the ram memory and try to power on. Of course expect beeps and errors from the BIOS, but if the mainboard powers and some LED's flash or do something, it isn't the motherboard who is faulty. Insert RAM and repeat the test. If it still works, then the hard disk you've installed is not compatible. IF however after removing both RAM and hardisk and the mainboard still doesn't power, surelly there is a problem in the DC charge/power on circuitry, that requires a specialised service to fix it.
Hope this will be usefull and good luck.

More than likely that is a main board problem. Check to see if you have stand by voltage. if you have stand by its the main board if you don't then its the power supply.if you change the main board out and it don't work then your Tcon board is bad too. thats the problem 99%
of the time when you have half screen.
Most likely the power supply board needs to be replaced. It could also be the T-con board or less likely the display itself.
If you don't know what you're doing, DON'T OPEN THE TV UP TO FIX IT, THERE ARE HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES ON THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD, EVEN WEEKS AFTER THE TV IS UNPLUGGED!
If you don't know how to do it yourself, find some local Electronic repair shops, get quotes, try to find reviews on the shops.
It sounds very much like a main digital board problem. Who advised you to replace the power[G] board and T'Con board; I don't know. I've went through this fault; a few months back with my carrier, but failed make it right because, the main board was not available either at the open electronic spare part market, or by the authorized service centre for Sony here, in my country. The people at the service centre asked me the set to be to their custody for repair; and I refused. They won't sell the main board outside; they say. What to do? It is still in my workshop.
So I advice you to contact the authorized service centre; in this case. Gopakumar Gopalan Google
That problem is usually have 2 causes..Its either power supply board or mainboard..
Please take this steps on how to determine the problem:
Open the back cover.
Check the power supply output...It should have 5vdc for the main board..12vdc or 16vdc for the audio and 24vdc for the back-light inverter..
If those 3 voltage supplies have encountered voltage drop...The problem could be on power supply board..
If the power supply output is normal..The problem could be on the main board...
If the problem is power supply you should check if the capacitors are bulged on the top and try to replaced it..If you can't do that you can purchased new power supply board..
If the problem is on main board there is no D.I.Y repair on that so you need to buy a new main board that fits to your TV..
The power supply or mother board probably went out. Did any other items in the house stop working? This happened to me years ago and the electric company reimbursed me for damages.
You can try unplugging the power cord for a few minutes, then retry listen for any beeps from the computer. If it is powering on but nothing on the screen and no beeps *********** board is probably toast.
Power supply board is dead.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement. The power supply board, that the board where the power a/c cord plug into it.
It seems you have done things i would have done to find the problem.
Have you check the switch mode power supply?
Leave the components connected (test under load) and power up and check the voltages on oe of the power plugs (4 pin), the voltages for 12 volts (yellow wire) and 5 volts (red wire). The 5 volts is the most important power supply, it is for the electronic circuits. If the voltages are below 10% then this could be the problem.
