SOURCE: Black screen comes up "windows

You should opt Safe Mode:

  • On the black screen just navigate throug up and down arrow keys.
  • Goto Safe Mode and press enter.
  • It will boot your system in safe mode.
If the boot is success full:
  • try to remember any software or hardware you recently installed/change. Then remove/uninstall that software/hardware. Also remove some device driver like Video/Audio driver and make re-start. and try to normal boot. If success then install your audio/video.
If no success then I think its time to re-install your windows.
Please post your feed-back.

SOURCE: Blue Screen

Is this still under warranty? If not then you'll just need to buy another HDD (hard drive device) and connect that one where the old was. Re-install XP or Vista. Conact Gateway or go to the Gateway web site to see what was hardware was supported for your system.

HDD IDE/EIDE or SATA/SATA II
OS XP or Vista

After you find out the info just install the new HDD, and install the OS. I only recommend doing this since you can't even get into the Safe Mode. When everything is back up and running you can also re-attach the old drive to what is called Slave or CS (cable select) this is more automatic process. Then you'll be able to recover any data missing that you need that was on the older drive.

SOURCE: Blue Screen

You could try turning the computer off at the switch when this happens. Sometimes it is a very temporary problem. You would need to wait a few minutes then turn it back on and restart your computer.

How do I get Amazon Fire TV resolution set so I get more than a blue screen?

Select the input channel for your Fire TV - Turn on your TV and select the input channel for the HDMI port you used to connect your Fire TV. You should then see a loading screen with the Amazon Fire TV logo 4.

How do you a system restore after the blue screen of death?

Turn on your computer, when the first screen of anything comes up, hit F10 or F12 on your keyboard so that it can open in Safe Mode. When in Safe Mode, it will open up ugly looking and large print and icons, but that's okay. Go to Control Panel, hit system restore, or System to reach System restore, and try to restore it to an earlier date. Save all your documents, photos, videos on a USB drive, and then get a new computer. This one is dying and close to death.
Hope this helps.

My daughters desk top computer will boot up when I press f1 and then it shuts down and brings me back to a black screen and tells me to hit f1 and reboots. When the windows does come up I dont have time to...

Remove the battery from the motherboard and check that it has 3volts or above. if not then replace it. That will cure your pressing F1 to continue all the time. As for the restarts then you will need to turn off Automatically restart in the control panel, system section. To do this you will need to boot into safe mode. Tap the F8 while booting until you get a black screen with white type on it. Its first option is to boot into safe mode. hit enter on this screen and windows will start with no drivers loaded. the screen will appear very large. navigate to the control panel as mentioned above and untick "automatically restart". Ok that and reboot normally. now you will most probably get a blue screen of death. note the first stop code. it will appear something like 0x000000??. Its the last two digits that are the clue to why this is happening. Google the stop code and you will now know why this is happening and do something to stop the problem.
