Drive will not read any disk

My disk drive will not read any disk when i place it in the drive and when i look in the device manager on the computer for any troubleshooting tips it says that the drive is corrupted or missing and the Windows help and support doesn't have a solution for my problem so if anyone has a reason as to why its doing it or if there is a way to fix it that'd be great Thanks

My computer is not reading the e: drive when I plug in my Calvary external drive. I may have unplugged it before I was supposed to when I last used it but the computer should still read the drive right?

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver
just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again, sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable,
check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems
hope this helps

MY WD can't recognize by my pc but last week i use it but there no problem but when i plug it again today in my pc the book are not be read and theres no icon that can be seen in the HARD DISK DRIVERS BUT...

Device Manager only says that the disk is getting AC power, and that the "data" cable is connected, and that Windows has recognized the specific device-information (that it is a disk-drive, and that the capacity of the disk-drive has been recognized).
Device Manager does not say that the "spinning" part of the disk-drive is still spinning, nor that there are any I/O errors (trying writing with a pen onto greased paper -- not everything you write can be read).

Try connecting the MyBook to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting the MyBook to a different computer.
If it still is not "readable", then you have a few options:

* if the warranty still is valid, exercise the warranty, to get it repaired/replaced,
* disassemble the case, disconnect the disk-drive from the USB-to-disk-drive adapter, and connect the disk-drive as a "slave" drive in some desktop computer, to see if the USB-to-disk-drive adapter has failed
* buy a replacement disk-drive, connect it to that USB-to-disk-drive adapter, and close the case, to create a "new" external disk-drive.

The computer reads the hard drive but i dont see a disk drive on' my computer' i.e i cant access the hard drive.

Do the following to see if the hard drive is recognized.

Left Click on control panel
Left Click on administrative tools
Left Click on Computer Management
scroll down the screen until you find disk management
left click on disk management.

see if you device is listed in the disk management window.

If so then, right click on the disk you indicated and select properties.

make sure the disk is active and that windows is reading the basic information.

IF your computer does not recognize the hard disk, you may want to disconnect it and reboot your computer.

then reconnect it, and restart once again.

this allows your bios and operating system the chance to "discover" your hardware again.

Micro sd 2gb card, not read.

Sometimes when a flash memory stick fails because it was not removed from the USB port properly. If the device is removed by just pulling it out of the USB port, it can cause the flash device to fail, you must click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Task Bar and select the device you wish to remove and only do so when instructed to do so.

When the flash memory device appears to malfunction it maybe possible to restore it by reformatting it. Insert the flash drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Healthy.

You need to format the external drive. Format the drive as primary drive and in FAT32. (FAT32 will allow data to be exchanged between MACs and PCs).
Insert the external hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Health.

I have a usb with alot of important files. when plugging to usb connection/connection it read and it says device ready for use already and drive f: also in my computer. when clicking the f: message is...

Rt Click My Computer, Manage, Device Manager and in the Rt side, highlight the TOP icon. Then under Help, click the Computer with magnifying glass i con aand wait. This forces your OS to 'Look' for any new devices.

When it finishes, close the window and see if your new HDD popped up under My Computer

If not, Rt Click My Computer, Manage, Disk Manager... or Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Manager and see if it is there. You may have to Rt. Click and import it as a foreign drive or Rt click and give it a Driveletter ;-)

If RtClicking My Computer doesn't work, Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Manager to get there.

Windows doesn't like 'foreign disks' so ANY time this happens, if OS doesn't see it, use disk manager and Import it.
