Maytag washer not completing or activating all cycles in certain modes

Have a Maytag MTW5900TW0 Top load washer. Heavy duty Cycle does not work properly, or will not come on. Sometimes it strains and causes lights in room to dim in unison with agitator, or will not come on at all in heavy duty cycle, but this is not consistent, and sometimes it does work. Other cycles operate normally with agitation, but heavy duty and normal cycles will get to rinse cycle and not drain, or finish rinse cycle and not activate spin cycle. Pump is pumping out water in certain cycles and works. gentle and hand wash cycles work thru all different cycles and finish washing loads. Is it the timer, or the agitation/electrical control module? This seems most likely. transmission not making any strage noises. have has a few instances where when starting normal was cycle, It agitated at heavy duty speed.

SOURCE: Maytag Washer Getting stuckon wash cycle

the possibility of it being the timer is most likely..as the rest of the cycles remain ok.. if you require a timer, you can get one here at this link..(click the link here) http://www.easyapplianceparts.com/AdvancedModelSearch.aspx?ModelNum=HAV4657EWW&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=1

please be aware that you will need the machine serial number in order for them to issue you with the correct part/s you will require.. parts are cross referenced with the serial number.

these diagrams will also enlarge in order for you to maintain your machine by yourself at little but the cost of the parts required... but please DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY REPAIR YOURSELF if you think you may not have the technical know how to follow these technical drawings..hope this helps

I have a Maytag Centennial top load washer. When washing in normal or heavy with large or super load size, the washer remains in sensing mode. Some water does start to fill, but never reaches wash cycle....

This unit does not handle a super large load as it advertised. When you put a super large load, the sensor is over-sized and will not move on the next cycle.

Producing debris when in spin cycle

2.13.1 Scrud
If fabric softener is used regularly it will eventually cause a build up within the outer bowl. This can
result in black flakes present in the wash load that can stain garments. To remove scrud follow the
procedure below.
Step1: Add a full cup of a good quality dishwashing powder such as Active or a similar product
into the machine.
Step 2: Set the machine to a Heavy Duty cycle, select a Hot Wash temperature, High Water level
and allow the machine to agitate for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Leaving the lid closed, turn the machine off and allow to soak overnight.
Step 4: The following day, turn the machine on and advance to the spin cycle to drain the water
from the machine. After the water has drained, turn the machine off then back on again, and select
a Heavy Duty cycle, Hot wash, High Water level, and allow the machine to complete a full cycle to
ensure that all of the loose scrud and residual detergent has been flushed away.
Note: If there is an extremely heavy build up the bowl will have to be removed for pressure washing

Maytag centennial washer not working properly in Normal cycle. After it shuts off there is still water in the bottom of the tub. I can move the dial to another setting such as Casual cycle or Heavy Duty...

We have the same problem. The Normal cycle still works, but after the final spin cycle, water is again added (1 gal est.) and the machine stops. Problem occurred after washing an old 25 x 30 inch rug which partially disentegrated when washed. We were seeing particles of the rug in subsequent wash cycles during drain into laundry tub. Don't know if something is plugged in the washer or if it is something else. In another load after the rug wash, the top of the washer was lifted during the wash cycle. The water problem occurred immediately after lifting the lid as the wash load went through remaining cycles. Maybe this affected the timer? Maytag customer service suggested unplugging power cord to re-set timer. This didn't make any difference. We need a technician to tell us if this is a timer problem or something else?

Just trying to find out drum capacity of my maytag heavy duty super capacity 7 cycle washer. Please help

Check the tag where you find the model and serial number, they often list it there. Your owners manual should tell you as well. You might have to call whirlpool (maytag), I cannot find the capacity listed on the tech info. Good luck.

Washer does not allow hot water to enter machine when you press the heavy duty button. Regular warm cycle or hot works fine. Replaced the water valves, main control panel.

Hi,

This is a common question we face daily. Certain washing machines allow hot water to enter only during certain cycles. Others allow hot and cold to enter intermittently. Consult your owner's manual to be absolutely sure about this. If you're sure the machine isn't working the way it used to--or should--try these tests:
Is the hot water turned on? If not, turn it on.
Is the washer getting cold water but no hot water? If so, check to see if the control panel
settings are correct.

Washer not finishing it's rinse/spin cycle

Run any load - large or the least bit bulky (like sheets) on the "BULKY" cycle. It takes longer, but the machine completes the wash. This shouldn't be the way it works. I love the Neptune TL for its retro look and lack of Maytag's classic big cranky knob. Too bad it runs like ****.
