press recall and Volume- till solid screen shows, then hit recall till you see codes on top left, then hold volume- and mute(same time) till all codes return to 000000000000, then hit exit. turn off tv and check to see if it works

To reset the lamp timer, hold the "enter" button on the tv and the "mute" button on the remote at the same time. Once the menu pops up, hit the right arrow on the remote and confirm the reset.

I would guess that's it's a little too late for this answer now, but for future reference... ;-)

I do not think failing to reset the Lamp Timer would cause the Lamp not to light. You need to get into the Factory Menu while the picture is on in order reset the Timer. I believe you have a Ballast issue either because the Power Supply is not powering the Ballast or the Ballast not Powering the Lamp. In either case, the only way to know is to have a professional to check it out and give a estimate for repair.
I hope this helps,

SOURCE: How do we reset the lamp timer?

Try holding down VOL - on the TV panel and then hold SPLIT or PIP on the remote for 5 seconds. A message should appear saying it is reset. I hope this helps.

I can't reset the lamp timer

l have a suggestion---that is worth trying---with compressed air dust the entire inside of the unit out--dust on fans or blocking air flow can cause this.

Other than that the set is not allowing the lamp to stay on (look to see if it even comes on for a few seconds or not).

I would suggest it is a ballast problem. You can check supply of 5 volts to ballast's small 5 pin connector (trigger voltage) and about 300V-330V to large 2pin connector. If both voltages present at the start and lamp is working with in another TV - it is bad ballast.

You very well could have problem with the Ballast board that powers Lamp or your Lamp Fan maybe defective and if you need orinagnal hand unit for set Call Encompass Parts Distrubtion or Go to their website type in Model number they will list Parts /Prices for your model.
1-800-638-3328 Mats Electronics also sells handunits .To reset timer
Hold VOL- on front of TV and Menu on hand unit at same time for 5secs
if this does not work try it in reverse Hold Menu down on TV and Vol- on hand unit. Check your Lamp Fan see if it quits running while turning set on,if it starts and stops it is defective, other wise Follow wires that Lamp plugs into it will connect to Ballast board that powers Lamp CK it Problem M/B Ballast Board.

I changed the bulb and tv worked fine for a day. Now the tv shutsitself down after about 5 minutes.I turned the timer off and reset the system and the problem still exists,

suspect a defective lamp....by the the way, it is called a lamp, not bulb.......second, it could be the ballast......and third it could be what's called the light engine or light box........the last thing could be the color wheel. definately suspect the color wheel if accompanied by a high pitch squeal.....

RED LAMP LIGHT CAME ON AND TV TURNED OFF

since you changed the ballast and the power supply the first thing i would do is recheck the plug connections on bothe boards. the wires on the power supply have a funny routing and sometimes can get cut or pinched. the small connector on the ballast will get loose pin connections and not make contact.if those look ok, leave the back covers off, put the air filter door on. nnow while you are listening over by the ballast, turn on the set, and check for a small arcing sound.if you here one that means the ballast is firing. look to see if you pushed the lamp wires out of the lamp housing.
post back what you find and we can go farther
