SOURCE: player freezes partway through movie

If for some reason you would opt for user performed action, then pls try:
1. reset, unplug from the mains for at least an hour and try again;
2. check if there is a slide switch of some sort at the rear of the unit;
3. check if there may be a pinhole somewhere along the bottom of the loading tray where a blunted point safety pin maybe inserted;
4. open the top cover and manually eject the tray;
5. check internally if there is a mechanical problem such as a slipping/cut belt, gears that do not mesh correctly;
6. if the unit has been in use for some time, it may simply need cleaning and re-application of lubricant in the mechanical assembly.

The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and , consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn’t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There’s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also.

Hope this may help;

Samsung bd-c6900 xaa dvd player freezes on 3d prometheus movie in same spot at scene 20

Report the error to Samsung support. There is an ongoing problem with the firmware. Make sure you have updated to the most recent firmware version 1025.0 that was released this month. There are still unresolved problems with the new firmware release though. Many movies will fail to load and other will load and play but will skip/freeze during playback. This is related to the anti-piracy features on the Blu-Ray that the player can not properly handle.

It freezes when playing a blueray movie. it seems

The most likely cause of your frustration with the BDP-S350 is that your player's firmware is not the most current. Most often, the firmware problem is JAVA related and will not let the menus load at all, but freezing during playback has also been reportedly fixed with the firmware upgrade.

The solution is to go to sony's website, download the firmware upgrade, burn it to a disc and then load the disc into the player to fix it.

I hope that helps.

DVD Freezes during playback

it might be that you are playing a dual layer dvd in the player. The player needs to focus on the second layer of the movie, and that might be why the dvd freezes. Leave it there for a while and the dvd should continue if it is this situation.

Disc does not spin/struggles to spin

If the relevant problem only occurs while watching a DVD movie, and everything is fine besides this (i.e. if the device lets you listen to an Audio CD without creating any problem) the problem might be related to the buffer. Because it simply needs larger available space of RAM to use when spinning a DVD compared to a CD. In my opinion, the problem of your DVD player is derived from a buffer underrun state. If I am right, there is nothing to do! Unfortunately, I have to say that if it was a computer , I would easily suggest that you upgrade your RAM. But, sorry..

Movie freezes

Grease the slide rails with a little smudge of vaseline - especially if the mechanism is noisy. There is another reason for it that I have not worked out, but on 2 machines the grease did the trick.
