My Scanner Died in the middle of scanning

I was scanning a slideshow onto my computer when all of a sudden, during one of the scans, my scanner shut down and stopped working. Prior to the scanner shutting down, I heard a pop coming from the rear of the machine. Now my scanner will not even turn on. If anyone knows what occurred and how I can go about fixing it, please let me know.

Coudl have been a fuse, a bulb, but most likely you would know if it was the bulb, and it was probably a capacitor overloading and exploding, its repairable if you can locate, de-solder, and replace the blown capacitor, your best bet is probably going to be to purchase a new scanner, unless it was just a short in the power cord in wich case the power cord may be the only thing effected but that almost never happens, I'd put my money on a blow cap but then again i could be wrong

The problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to the computer,,... how can i fix it?

Hello,

I understand your problem.

If you have not added any new hardware or drivers just prior to the shut downs, then it may be a a malware ot virus problem.
I do not know what malware protection your are using, but I would recommend Microsoft Security Essentials.
I have posted a link below for you to copy and paste into your web browser to go to the Microsoft to download the program. Download it and install as prompted. After installation it will update and do a fast scan. Stop the the scan and do a full scan. If the scan cannot finish or the shut down occurs during the scan, reboot your computer and press the F8 key. On next screen, select safe mode. After booting to safe mode, open Microsoft Security essentials and then do a full scan. During the scan it will detect any problems and when completed, check history for what was found and how it was removed.

If you have another virus program installed, it must be removed prior to installing the Microsft program. This can also be done in Safe Mode, if you have another shutdown.

Why does my laptop always ask me if i need to scan my hard drive to fix my problems? I'm afraid of scanning because it might delete or format the hard drive.

If your laptop has not been shut down properly then when you boot up it wants to scan fix problems caused by not shutting down properly or by power failure. It will not format your computer so you won't loose you data. You could lose a file that was opened or not saved when the computer was turned off. If you continually stop the scan and not let the computer fix these problems, it could stop your computer from working properly.

PFUSSMON HAS STOPPED WORKING ON MY SCANSNAP S1500

Find your specific scansnap product and update it:

http://www.fujitsu.com/us/services/computing/peripherals/scanners/support/downloads.html

A user had a similar issue and I found this update for the scansnap S1500 manager:

http://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/computing/peripheral/scanners/drivers/s1500.html

This occurs with certain Intel dual core processors, so you might be effected accordingly.

Dr-2050c multi-page document stops scanning after one or a few pages, inconsistently. Feed lever is down in the multi-page position. Feeder tries to separate the pages: sometimes it succeeds. Document...

If the scanner is scanning but stops after a few pages either it could be because of a) There is insufficient disk space (you need to delete unwanted files or direct the comp to store whre there is space) or b) the rubber rollers are not able to separate pages and feed the papers for scanning.(You need to change the rollers)

Scanner is stopping during scan cycle

when you tried it on other lmachines did you load software from same source? If its a software driver problem, you can uninstall the one you have and then try getting a new copy from hp website and reinstall fresh.
If there are any known issues or updates, then the current version will be best anyway and may solve the problem.
Probably not much you can do if its a harware problem, unless its under warranty.

Scanning siezes computer and scanner

Hello,
I believe that what you are having a power issue on the USB port. This port is limited to a certain total amount of power and if you are using other devices on the usb ports they each take away from the total amount available for use. The fix for this issue would be for you to buy a Powered USB Hub, as it has a transformer that plugs into the wall and will avoid using any of the computer's usb power to run the scanner.

Good Luck

DR-9080C intermittent stops during scanning which last 3 to 5 minutes

Do you have enough hard disk space? Reinstall your driver software. Run Scandisk on the Comp.

Is the problem coming on after a set time interval, any heating smell?

Try to reload the machine system software as it may be corrupted due to the power outage if this does not solve the problem the harddrive may be damaged just as its possable for a computer harddrive to be damaged if you do not shut your computer down and just pull the plug out.If you need any more help please get back to me or phone 00447764303923 i am in the uk
