You may be in need for a ROM update/reinstall. It is pretty easy to do that. You can either go at HP's web site and download a ROM update for your specific model. Make shure you select your operating sistem rigt. Or you can browse the internet for a specific ROM update for your model. I recomand the HP site, and if you have problems regarding the ROM update process, or the ROM and OS version you need, please reply here and I'll guide you throught. Good luck.

You can find a ROM version with windows mobile 2003 on this page. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...

Are you able to establish an active sync conection? This is normally required for your ROM update program to work.

If you can't , some guys at HP posted a way to solve this problem, I've tried personally on 2 PDA's. Worked for my h2210 but not for my Rx3715.You should try however. You must bring your PDA into flash mode by pressing POWER + CONTACTS + ITASK + SOFT RESET. Then you must connect the usb sync cable to the computer. Now the activesync program needs to be closed. ctrl alt del and in "processes" kill the one named wcescomm.exe. Then start the ROM update setup.

It is important to me to know from the begining exactly what model do you have, what operating sistem does it run now, what errors are occuring at start-up and it it can active sync with a computer. Sorry for having you repeat some things, but ROM flashing is delicate procedure, upgrading a different ROM version can result in damaging your PDA even further. I seen the mesage posted in the ipaq h4150 section, and assumed you have a h4150. Sorry for that, and please provide me with some aditional data for me to figure out the right course of action.

    HI again.
The ROM version required for IPAQ 5450 can't indeed be found on HP site. Don't know for what reason is that so?

Here is my solution. Provide me with a email adress where I can send you the ROM version. Because the file is aprox. 28mb in size I will split it into 3 archives because yahoo permits a maximum of 10mb per message. One more good thing, the ROM update I provide will update your PDA's operating system to Windows Mobile 2003. It is my recomandation, because the 2002 is pretty buggy on this model, and provide bad battery life along with some other bugs. Here are the steps you need to do.

    1. Provide me with a email adress. The ROM will arrive archived. Put all archives into one folder and extract the actual ROM image file.

    2. Make shure the PDA is charged when you do this. Connect the usb sync cable (or cradle) to your PDA, and establish a conection with active sync. Doesn't matter if it is GUEST or you make a PARTERSHIP.

    3. Start the ROM update by clicking on the ROM file you just extracted.

    4. Don't reset your PDA as it is said there, just continue with the ROM update. It will check you PDA for compatibility, will inform you not to disconnect the usb cable or something like that (this is bad!, if you do)and proceed with erasing your ROM and writing the new data. These things take aprox 8-10min.

    5. After that you will have a working WM2003 PDA. Go to : http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...
.. and install the upgrades provided by HP. It is a good thing ;) and also fixex some bugs in the PDA's firmware. Install whatever you need.

    6. That's it.

Please note, the ROM version I am about to send is an upgrade, and not soo free as you can see on the HP site. Don't make it public and don't share it :). Also the ROM version is in ENGLISH.

Also please provide me with the result of your ROM update. Did it work? Also of course, install the drivers and patches available on the above link provided by me. Good luck.

Computer will not boot.

Form the info you provided, you have a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) disk array. RAID 0 (striped disks) distributes data across several disks in a way that gives improved speed and full capacity, but all data on all disks will be lost if any one disk fails. Apparently Diagnostics has determined that “Drive 2” is defective. You will have to replace the defective hard drive and reload the Windows operating system.

It Keeps restarting at the loading screens

The error refers to a bad Hard Drive. You need to call up Dell to have the Hard Drive replaced. Make sure to start contacting a Local Pc Shop to help you back up files from your Hard drive since Dell doesn't cater to backing up of data on any Hard Drive.

If you did a "hard" reset and it doesn't work, it's a hardware problem... Send it in for repair.
