Question about Sony CMT-HP7 CD Shelf System

MECH Error Evidently a CD is jamming the mechanism. Sending it to the shop would cost more than it?s worth. Can I fix it? Can someone recommend a place to buy a repair manual? It seems like a waste just to trash it. Thanks

  • Anonymous Dec 14, 2008

I am getting a MECH error where Disc 2 seems to be jammed. I removed the side panels and sprayed compressed air, and I still can't get any response from the stereo. Are there any other suggested solutions?

I had a similar problem.

Remove the side panels and spray compressed air.  Did the trick for me.

Either the unit's motor is bad or the mechanical parts are dirty not allowing the unit to change CD's or load them.

MECH ERROR or "MECHanical Communication ERROR"
When this message is displayed on cd player, indicates that there is a problem with cd player that has do with the mechanism which is jammed up.

You will need to take off and open up your player and clean out the dust inside.

Hope helps. Your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

When I turn on my camera I get the error message 0x0311how do i fix this?

0x0311 error is evidently a lens error.

A lens error can be caused by physical damage to the mechanism that controls the lens, or debris that is interfering with the operation of the lens.

This article may be able to help you with a "do it yourself" solution.

In the event that your problem is due to physical damage and not just dirt or debris, you will need to take it to a local camera repair shop for troubleshooting-- though with most consumer digital cameras, labor and parts cost of a repair can easily exceed the value of the camera.

Hi,Have got got a canon(powershot a710 is) whenever i turn on the camera i get a few beep noises and the screen remain black with the message'lens error, restart the camera'....and it then turns off.....I...

The lens is jammed. Usually dust or grit gets in the mechanism and causes it to stick. Could try blowing down the side of the lens but it will probably need taking apart and cleaning. It is not an easy job to do but it might be worth trying as it would probably cost too much taking to a repair shop.

I can't get my CD Player to open

The cd mechanism is very hard to get to in this model but sometimes through the bottom panel
(if one)! Maybe some gears can be seen to turn
in mech. These systems are usually not worth fixing
but you can "luck out"!

Disc wont change....or play....

e-mecha appears to be nothing more than an interlock. hitting reset clears the interlock, but if the problem has not been fixed, then the interlock will trip again, preventing operation. Determine why the radio goes into mechanical failure to begin with. Once fixed, the interlocks will be made and the radio will play. There are a number of events that all have to complete sucessfully including feedback from sensors to maintain the e-mecha interlock. One of your sensors is not being made, either by a sensor problem or by a mechanical issue that prevents the sensor from tripping. -Steve
