I have a sony sybershot dsc-w7 and it wont let me take a picture..when i hit the picture button it flashes ..in red..."recording" and there is an M in a box at the top of the screen...my camera is not in record mode but camera mode...help!?!

try taking out the battery's and then put them back on also make sure it is switched over to take photos there should be a button to change it back to photos.
DSC-W80 sybershot camera has facility when you insert Memory Stick in its slot, it automaticaly selects this memory card and starts saving data on it and internal memory got suspended.
Pls check memory stick 2GB and inert it correctly in memory slot in camera.
One flash is for the camera the set the exposure the second is to miminize red-eye the third is the actual flash. All digital cameras do it, you can only turn off the red-eye flash.
while in record mode, press the flash/up button repeatedly until you are in red-eye reduction mode. red-eye reduction mode should greatly reduce the problem when enabled. If this does not work, the software that came with your camera (and most photo editing applications) include a red eye reduction/removal filter.
I had the same problem and you go to menu then REC mode and make sure it is on normal, mine was on multi burst and thats why it was recording on every setting.
