The brake on saws like yours are controlled by the switch. They do go bad and are easily replaced if the parts are still available. Your heading says you have a Makita tool but you didn't give the model number. If you go to the Makita home site at:
www.makitatools.com/en-us/Modules/Home/Default.aspx

you can put your model number in the search box and get a parts breakdown and owner's manual if they are still available. Parts are available online at sites like www.ereplacementparts.com where you can also get a parts breakdown but not manuals.

I have a Pro-Tech table saw Model 4008 and neet a miter gauge assembly. The bar is 5/8ths. Any comparable replacements out there?

I tried all of my sources.
all I can suggest is try running an ad on Craigslist ... or search Pro-Tech there and see what pops up.I've seen them without rip fences , with bad motors etc. but otherwise complete for $30 ...
good luck.

I believe my table saw blade is not accurately aligned with the table and I can't find my Owner's Manual.

OK, first you should understand that the blade needs to be aligned with the miter slot. The easiest way to check this is to use a ruler.

UNPLUG YOUR SAW BEFORE BEGINNING!

First, use a pencil or a marker to mark the outside of one of the teeth on your blade, on the same side of the blade as the miter slot you're going to measure from. Position the marked tooth at the front of the table, then measure from the side of the marked tooth to the leading edge of the miter slot. To determine if it is aligned correctly, you simply spin the blade around where the marked tooth is at the back of the table and measure it again to the leading edge of the miter slot. The measurements should match. If you want to be more accurate you can use a machinists dial gauge to measure within 1/1000 of an inch.

If the measurements are off, you need to loosen the trunion bolts that mount to arbor to the table just slightly, then use a dead blow to move the table in the appropriate direction.

Search youtube for "table saw allignment" to find lots of videos showing this technique.

Also, here is a copy of your owners manual:

I need new brushes for my Pro-Tech miter saw

Take out the old brushes, take them to the hardware store, they have a box full of different size brushes, one will fit your saw.

DW705 Miter saw Spark in motor Compartment

Yes spark in motor compartment is normal. You only need to worry if you see a lot of sparks flying out of the motor compartment! Most power tools will spark inside the motor compartment (particularly if carbon brushes are used).

Bevel and miter could be off... Consult your manual for how to adjust these correctly, but usually the bevel has a 0-degree setting screw or adjustment, and the miter adjustment on the saw is usually done by altering the fence position... Again check your manual for specifics on your saw.
