Monitor dims for one account, not the other

I have a 3 month old Acer aspire and AL1916 monitor. As of last nite, whenever I switch from my GF's user account to my own, the screen dims dramatically. So much so that I can hardly read anything on it. Once I log off of my account and back into hers, the screen comes back at normal brightness. Then, going back to my user account, the screen dims again. What can I do to fix this? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Acer AL2032WD 20'' LCD Black. It goes on and off every 10 to 15 seconds. It's still under the warranty and I nead to get it fixed.
Please contact me at [email protected] A.S.A.P. Thank you.

I would first contact the GF administrator and ask them if they've heard of this before. Then I would contact Acer.

I have an acer aspire e3-111-c2kg. It is about 2 months old and when I switched it on today it just has a black screen and won't load

Hi there
Firstly, don't do anything drastic that would void the warranty since it is only 2 months old.
One of the possibilities is that it has been switched to external monitor only. <Fn> + <F5> is a display toggle which switches the display output between the built-in screen, an external monitor (if connected) and both. Try this first.
You can get a full user manual here, if you haven't got one with the machine.

Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

How to change monitor aspect ratio for acer AL1916

The aspect ratio is expressed as two numbers separated by a colon (x:y). and they actually represent the relation between width and height of (in your case) your monitor.

Did you mean to change the resolution of your monitor? Could you please explain your problem in more detail? What is it exactly you want to achieve?

Monitor won't turn on

capacitor has shorted in the main board. Try to look for any buldging capacitor and change it. It will be ok then.

Screen goes dim under different user

could be an issue of his resolution and refresh rate settings are close to being out of range for the monitor. Try lowering these settings to get better performance.
