I have a vaio vgn-cs190 notbook that needs a new touch pad. How would you removei it. This is URGENT!!!
It might be easier to just replace the whole Palmrest that comes with the touch pad. Ok, on a laptop you need to get some cups and label them to
put the screws in so you will know where they came from. Remove the Power
Cord, Remove the Battery then start removing all the
screws from the bottom of the laptop. Then remove all the devices from
the bottom of the laptop such as the hard drive, the memory, dvd/cd drive,
wireless card, etc. Take note of how the wires are on the wireless card,
those are the antennas.
You'll need to take the laptop apart.
Look inside the battery case, hard drive case, memory case and dvd drive slot
for screw. Some screws on the bottom case in inside of some of the device
cases might have the icon of a keyboard next to it. Those screws hold the
keyboard in place.
Turn the laptop over, remove the strip that is just above the keyboard but be
careful because a cable might be attached to it. Then remove the screws
that hold the keyboard in place that are under where the strip was and gently
lift the keyboard out because there is definitely a cable under it.
Next you can remove the screws from the lcd hinges at the corners and lift the
lcd screen off, also note that you will have to pull the antennas cable and the
lcd cable when you remove the lcd.
Next start removing any screws that hold the palmrest in place. Take note of
any cables that are attached to the palmrest and remove them then lift the
palmrest off.
Next start removing any screws you see that hold the motherboard to the bottom
case, then lift the motherboard out an start replacing the fan.
A digital camera to take pictures will be most helpful to refresh you memory of
where things were.

usually there are screws coming upward from the bottom to remove the keyboard, then you have to remove the palmrest which the touchpad is integrated into.

dear kenkasza, i am afraid that you will lose the warranty if you open ya laptop all by yourself.

I have the same problem, but using Vista. I believe it is a Hardware fault after reading some forums with the same problem. Some technicians will just reinstall the driver and say it's fixed but it comes back soon after.
