My Panasonic SAPT480 won't play dvd+

It plays DVD's... it just doesn't play things that have been copied any more. It use to just fine. I've cleaned it with a laser cleaning kit, unplugged it and then restarted it.
I'm at my wits end...any more suggestions? Thanks

Yes it plays the ones I buy from the store and rent from Redbox, it just won't play the copies of my original one's I've burned for my grandbabies anymore and it use to just fine!

Also, there isn't a problem inserting the disc or ejecting the disc. The recordable disc's are DVD+ and have worked perfectly in the past and now all of a sudden it doesn't recognize that there's a disc...it'll say "NO DVD...HO4". Called Panasonic and they want a lot of money to fix it and I could buy a new one for much less! It still work's fine as far as rented or purchased DVD's, or CD's and radio. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

You can buy a DVD cleaning kit and follow instructions, or get a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol, gently clean the lens and allow several minutes to dry before testing, if this fails the whole laser pickup assembly will need to be replaced, cheaper to buy a new player.

Does it play normal DVD's you buy from a store? [home movies for example]

  • Anonymous Jun 07, 2012

My guess is Panasonic would end up changing the whole assembly costing far more than a new player. I think you would be further ahead just using the present one for what it can do, and get a new one to handle the copies.

I can't get the sound when playing my Panasonic SAPT480 DVD player on my LG UHD TV 4K 55UJ63. I have connected the HDMI cable and the white and red audio cables but no luck.

You shouldn't need red and white cables. Hdmi cable carry both; audio and video. Check settings on both devices if sound over Hdmi is disabled. Maybe TV expect's sound via optiical cable or certain sound format need to be enabled or DVD outputs sound in format not supported by your.

Panasonic DVD-S31 won't play sound

Did you change the audio cable, "just to rule out" If it won't work on the Tv or stereo, there probably is a audio processor problem, or a issue with the laser pickup assembly, to repair this kind of problem would not justify the cost.

Panasonic DVD player dvd cv37 won't play discs.

The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, over time the laser becomes weak until it can no longer play the disc. Buy a DVD cleaning kit and follow instructions, this may give more life to the player, if no change! it is far cheaper to replace than to repair.

How do i make the tv broadcast sound come on with a sapt480 panasonic surround sound system?

One way would be to run the audio from your unidentified TV's (or Cable Box's) unspecified audio output (look in ITS manual). The latter would undoubtedly be higher fidelity, possibly digital.
