Bad/no picture when looking through both the eyepeice as well as the flip-out screen in camera mode and records the same blur seen through the viewing peices. Playback works fine and picture is clear on both eyepiece and screen on preiviously recorded material. Please Help! Camera only has 8-10 hours of use on it.
This problem has been answered and solved. It's a defect which Sony will fix. Go to their web site and service /support should explain what the problem looks like and that (if your problem really is the same) they will fix it free including shipping. I've done it already on my CCD-TRV318.

Are
you pressing the shutter button half-way and giving the camera time to
lock in the focus before pressing the rest of the way? If not, the good
pictures were just luck.
The overall image is out of focus If Pan focus is being used, the image may be out of focus; use Auto Focus Mode. Pan focus uses a focus range of several feet, so the image might be blurry but will be captured faster. This could occur in the EX-Z30, EX-Z40, EX-Z50, EX-Z55 and EX-Z57. If digital zoom was chosen and the image becomes unclear, only use optical zoom, and move closer.
