I turned my tv on this morning and it went direcly into DVD mode and I cannot get it back to tv mode or another input. When I hit input on the TV it flashes to the Tv but goes direcly back to DVD mode and I cannot even open the DVD door.
I thought a button on the remote was mashed in and checked it and even took out the batteries and still could not get it out of DVD mode

No way to do that unless you can figure out a way to remove the part. The contacts inside that plug determine where the sound goes. No way to turn it off unless you remove the broken part. If you feel confident enough, remove the back of the TV and remove the broken piece from the jack.
The PS3 is connected to your TV via one of the inputs on the backside of the set? If so, the input you used can be selected from the remote or from your menu buttons on the physical TV. The remote will have a button labeled video(video inputs) and by depressing it you can scroll through different selections ie... Svideo, TV, colorstream 1 & 2, HDMI(which is probbaly the best, but you will need an HDMI cable)
Our expert solved the problem for me. I did not realize it until I turned off TV and turned it on the next morning and the sequence he told us to follow had worked! Sound restored. He was wonderful and patient. Thanks.
mine did the same thing...it was on rgb...didn't have ability to plug in computer to tv as suggested previously and I kept trying to hit input button on side of tv after turning tv on..didn't work but when I pushed input button before turning on tv when i turned on tv input screen was up and was able to move input to hdmi...everything works now.
