Bosch Maxx800 Front Loader Not Spinning.

My washing machine stopped spinning, it will still wash, drain, rinse but not spin during any of the cycles. I can spin the drum by hand.

  • Anonymous Jun 06, 2012

The water is draining correctly. It is just the spin cycle that is not working.

Hi, if your washer pumps out the water but doesn't spin, check these:

The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it.
A belt may be broken. Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.)
The clutch may be worn. If your washer is a GE, it may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician.
The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor.
The transmission may not be shifting properly. Older washers produced by Whirlpool have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may drain the water but not spin. This is a complex system, if your washer has a shifter problem, you may want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it.
The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.

Thank you.

SOURCE: Bosch WFF1800 - not spinning

HI,

move the kicking plate on the front-bottom of the machine. You will see o circular lid there, turn it on anti-clockvise to open. All of the water blocked will come from there, be careful. Look carefully that there are some objects blocking the water draining. Then turn on the machine on draining programme, the plastic rotor should turn fastly when the machine is on. If it is not running, change the pump motor. If it is running, but machine is not draining again you can understand that there is an objeck stuck on the hose between drum and pump motor. Lay down the machine on its rear facade, you will see a large and black hose between drum and pump motor. When you remove it, you will see that there is something that blocks water running.

thank you for using fixya, rate my answer,

SOURCE: my Bosch classic 1200 express washing machine wont drain or spin

Possibly a blocked filter or pump.
Ths filter should be at the bottom right front of washer, sometimes behind a removeable cover at the bottom of washer.
To clean it, unscrew anti-clockwise, remove and clean.

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa

It sounds like (based on your initial description) the unit is detecting an incomplete drain or an unlocked door, hence the control will not initiate a hi-speed spin. Since you've checked the drain already you can likely rule the incomplete drain a non-factor.

I know most folks will rule out the lock initially because the unit does indeed "lock", however, the lock on these machines are a two part device, a set of contacts to lock and a secondary contact to activate hi-speed spin, i.e.

macmarkus_339.jpg
If it does indeed drain fine, then here's the next place I'd direct you to investigate.

**Unplug the unit from the wall first...safety first**

It will require you to visually inspect the control board, thus needing to remove the top panel by way of taking out the screws at the back and sliding the panel back and up.

What to look for specifically is the wires with the green connector fastened to the board securely...I've seen a few vibrate loose thus preventing the unit from spinning, i.e.

macmarkus_340.jpg
If loose push it all the way in until it cannot be pulled out with a slight tug ( there are clasp's on the connector but I suspect sometimes they aren't secure when leaving the factory...just my suspicion )

If these things can be ruled out, then it is quite likely the door switch, so here's how to change/access the latch assembly...

**The door latch is likely the single most common fault (which prevent's any spin, and consequently drenching wet clothing at the end of the cycle) with the frigidaire/electrolux built washer's, ASIDE FROM PUMPS BEING OBSTRUCTED.**

You should be able to purchase one at most local brick & mortar stores or on-line part's depot's such as "searspartsdirect.com" "repairclininc.com" to name a couple. They usually sell for about $50 or so, part # 1531974 ( # at repairclinic.com ) and are relatively easy to replace. It should resemble the image here...

As for replacing said switch, There are a couple ways to access it, through the top and squeezing your arm down the front or the way I prefer, remove the front bellows spring/retainer.

1) **UNPLUG THE WASHER FROM THE WALL OR TURN OFF THE BREAKER.**

2) Remove the spring, get it started where the spring is located with a small screwdriver. Once you`ve got the spring/retainer off ( it comes off and on pretty easy by hand ) pull the gasket/bellows back away from the cabinet.

3) Undo the two screws holding the switch to the cabinet, pull the switch out ( there is just enough slack in the wires so don`t pull too hard ) and swap the wires from the old assembly to the new one and you`re in business.

4) To put it back together, just reverse the removal procedure. The trickiest part is the retainer. Rap the retainer around the boot leaving the spring for the last...and make sure the spring is located at the 6 o`clock position...usually. Just wherever it was initially.

Let me know if you need further assistance going forward or if my instructions are not clear.

Thank's again for visiting FixYa today. Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

My Midea front loader won't spin. HELP!

There are a few potential causes for your Midea front loader washing machine not spinning. Some possible reasons include:
  • Overloading: If the machine is overfilled with clothes, it may not be able to spin properly. Try removing some of the clothes and running the spin cycle again.
  • Belt problem: The belt that connects the motor to the drum may be loose or damaged, preventing the drum from spinning.
  • Drainage issue: If the machine is not draining properly, the spin cycle may not be able to begin. Check to make sure the drain hose is not clogged and that the pump is functioning properly.
  • Control Board problem: The control board is responsible for controlling the machine's functions. If it is malfunctioning, it may prevent the machine from spinning.
  • Lid switch: The lid switch is responsible for detecting if the lid is open or closed. If the lid switch is faulty, the machine may not spin.
It's best to check the owner's manual for troubleshooting steps specific to your washing machine, or contact the manufacturer for further assistance. If the problem persists, it is advisable to get it checked by a professional technician.

Bosch classixx 1000 washing machine - stops on spin

Washing machine stops at the spin cycle - light flashes. Have to drain water out manually. Happened last week and was then able to run an empty rinse cycle. Machine worked normally for another week. Same problem today but have had to drain water manually from the drum after trying an empty 90 wash and rinse cycle (both stopped on the Spin and flashed). Any ideas? Thanks. x
