Liftmaster Garage Door Opener won't clear codes

My older model Liftmaster 1050 garage door opener won't let me clear the security codes. This model has a yellow learn button with a red LED. Newer models clear codes by holding the learn button down for 6 seconds. I tried holding down the yellow button over one minute but the LED remains lit and the codes were not cleared. My other remote was stolen so I really would like to clear the codes. Thanks in advance for your help.

This was a first generation learn button model. Antiquated by current technology standards. It was a two channel system. One channel for a dip switch remote, the second for a 66LM key pad. No way to erase the programming, however, by programming in a dip switch remote (61LM with the dip switches set to new positions, and a 66lm set to a new entry code) will purge the two channels of their previous memory, now set to the the new settings.

My liftmaster garage door opener will open the garage door but won't close it from the wireless remote in my car. what could be the problem

Check your door sensors. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering ever so slightly. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to light you have bad sensors.

Sounds like the receiver in your opener has quit working. Unless you break in you need to call a door technician. They can drill a hole in the door, use a special tool to pull the manual release and open the door. You should then have them install a keyed manual release if this ever happens again. They can also repair or replace your opener.

Either your car or your door opener is an older model and they are not compatible. Hopefully it is the opener that is older.
