Lately I have a light blue cloud on my Lcd screen when I watch it. I also had some light blue lines coming across the screen but I was able to remove them by using a snow wash dvd I bought on line. That doesn't help me with the light blue cloud though. I'm out of warranty and hope to fix this problem myself. Does anyone have advice.
I have the same problem. The repair guy said it's the optical engine and you may as well replace the set as pay for the repair. First time I'm glad I bought the extended warranty. That's another story.

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!
The Blue cloud is caused by a filter inside the Optics ( light engine) . The lamp over time has destroyed a coating allowing too much of the wrong spectrum of light to pass. The only repair is to replace the Optics or remove the optics and send out to be rebuilt. Call Sony and talk to customer service they may be able to help ? The bad news is this trouble will continue to get worse, the blue will continue to grow most likely.
I had the same problem with mine. I replaced the power supply and the problem was solved. That was about two months ago. Now I have the problem with a very brief blue screen, then going black with the sound still working. From what I have been able to find out it appears now that I have a bad power inverter. I will be replacing that next.
Does anyone have a problem with the screen looking cloudy? When my TV was working, I could see areas that looked like faint black clouds across the screen.
Check the optical block repair at sony's warranty website...
Could be the problem they have been covering it under a recall of sorts. $1250 for the optical block and they are only doing it until the end of the year so don't waste any time
It might be just dust somewhere in the light path to the LCD panels or on them. The only other thing that comes to mind is the light engine itself and that is no easy task to replace. The part number for it is A-1084-666-A
and can run close to 1000.00 for the part. Can you post a picture of the issue so I can look at it?
