Open Microsoft Word > Insert > Pictures > From Scaner > Scan page will come out > Preview > Scan > Picture inserted in Word page > Set Picture In front of text > OK > right click at picture > save as picture file > choose save as JPEG file > Save.

Now you can use it as picture files.

Hello,

First, go to this web page. It is the main support page for your printer.

DeskJet 5440 Support

(Save this page to your favorites for future reference.)

Click on Software & Driver Downloads. Then select your operating system.

Available software and drivers will then be listed.

You can download the needed files to install or order a new CD if desired.

My advice is to download the software to your desktop using the Save option when the download window opens. When the download is complete, prepare your printer (ink, paper, power on, disconnect USB) and then run (double-click) the file on the desktop and follow the prompts to install.

First, go to this site:

Deskjet 5440 Support

Click on Software & Driver Downloads. Then select your operating system.

The available software will then be listed. Look for the full feature and driver. (There is also a link to order a new CD if desired for some OS.)

When you click on the file name you will get another page that has Install or Download Only buttons. I suggest that you use the Download Only option. When you click it you will get a download window that allows you to Run or Save. Choose Save.

Another window will open. Click on Desktop on the left side of the window. Then click Save. The file will be downloaded to your desktop.

Prepare your printer...ink, paper, turn the power ON. Disconnect the USB cable. Run (double-click) the file on your desktop. Connect the USB cable when prompted by the software.

That should get you going.

Try "File", "Page setup" then look around at your printing settings to see if there's a reduction option or "fit to page".

Web page sometimes formated in odd shape/format you may need to print preview to see how it had been formated prior printing the page...this will avoid printing partial informatin and etc...

HP Deskjet 450 and HP Color Inkjet cp1160 and cp1700 Series Printers - How to Print with Black Ink Only Follow the instructions below to print with black ink only.
NOTE: HP Deskjet printers use all the primary colors, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow, to create shades of gray when Print in Grayscale is selected in the printer driver and the Black only option is not available or not selected.

1. Click Start , Settings , and then Printers . In Microsoft® Windows XP, click Start and then Printers and Faxes .
2. Right-click the printer icon and in Windows 95/98/Me, select Properties . In Windows NT 4.0, select Document Defaults . In Windows 2000/XP, select Printing Preferences .
3. Select the Color tab.
4. Select Print in Grayscale .
5. Select Black only .
   NOTE: If the Black only option is not available, download the latest printer driver from the HP Web site. Click here to go to the HP Support and Drivers page.
