Question about Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Calculator
I have the same problem as Woodt3. I never have dropped my 83 but half of the screen towards the bottom has lines going across horizontally so I see the upper half of the calculator clearly. I can still perform calculations, and they are mostly obscured by these lines. What is a suggestion to fix the problem with the lines going horizontally through the calculator screen?
I had the same prob with vertical lines on the screen, and getting messed up when there was lots of numbers on the screen.
Solution: Change your batteries. Put some freshies in then adjust your contrast until you see the little black box. If you still have a problem with the lines, darken the screen until it's black (2nd up repeatedly) and let it sit for a couple minutes. Lighten your screen back to normal (2nd down) and turn off then turn her back on.

I've had a similar problem in the past with my TI-86. It still happens sometimes when I don't use it for a while. To fix it, all I did was set the screen to its darkest setting and left it on for 10 minutes (keep it from turning itself off, by pushing buttons every few minutes.) One time it was so severe that I had to do it for about 15-20 minutes. It works great, and the calculator is fine unless you leave it unused for a month or so. One thing that I also found helps is if you type several numbers or something to fill up the screen completely and just use the up/down and left/right arrow keys to keep the calc from shutting off. A similar solution may work for you.

All buttons seem to work fine, but the screen displays vertical lines throughout the screen and obscures solutions. The right half of the screen will not clear with the clear button. I've tried removing all batteries and clearing memory, but that doesn't change anything. Is there a way to reset the screen or calculator. (TI-83 Plus)
There are one bold vertical line and many tiny horizontal lines blank on the TI83 screen. The functions on the calculator seems to be fine except the display screen.
