My comcast digital doesn't allow me to fax, and I have reconfigured my ECM and BPS accordingly. I also installed a digital filter...still I can't send or receive faxes. Both Lexmark (I have a x7170 AIO) and Comcast says they've done all they can. Any suggestions?

Sending a fax by DSL requires one of two methods: 1. You obtain a DSL line filter suitable for connecting a standard voice telephone to the DSL line, then connect an analog fax modem to the line through the line filter. 2. You hire an Internet E-faxing service. See · http://www.slipstick.com/addins/services/fax.htm#internetfax · http://www.slipstick.com/addins/services/fax.htm · http://www.savetz.com/fax Tim

Cannot send a fax

For a fax to work you do not need a broadband. What you need is a phone like. It seems that you are trying to use broadband for fax because it is the same phone line that they both are on. Sorry, will not work that way. If you trace back you will find that there is a little box that has the phone line coming into from outside. The box splits it into phone and dsl. It is this phone line that should go into the fax and not the dsl line.
So please remove the dsl line from the fax and connect the phone line and you will see that the fax works.

Lexmark x2470. Fax solutions not working after going high speed

Please check that the Phone line for faxing is connected to a seperate NON FILTERED phone line. Not to the dsl line. You can use a line splitter for this. Also the dial up modem may need to remain in your computer for the fax software to dial out. Hope this helps.

No, you don't need to buy an adapter, just one more phone cord. You already have the splitter, so run one phone cord from the splitter to the printer. You'll see there is a line in and out. Run the out to your phone. Voila. You should be all connected.

About Distinctive Ring Pattern Detection (DRPD)
"Distinctive Ring" is a service provided by some telephone service providers. Two phone numbers are assigned to one phone line so that you will hear different ring patterns for incoming phone calls than for incoming faxes. If you subscribe to this service, follow the instructions below to program your All-In-One to use it.
On the X125:
Press Setup once, then press Menu nine (9) times until DRPD appears on the display.
On the X63:
  1. Press Setup once, then press Menu eight (8) times until DRPD appears on the display.
  2. Press Options until you see Learn, and then press Start/Yes.
  3. Dial the phone number that you want to use as a fax number. (Do this from a different phone line, not from the line the fax will be installed on.)
  4. Press Setup.
  5. Press Menu until you see Fax Receive Mode on the display.
  6. Press Options until you see DRPD, and then press Start/Yes. The All-In-One detects the ring pattern and answers all incoming faxes on the second ring.
