My Daewoo tv has started to develop very thin horizontal lines across the screen on all channels (including av). They resemble pinstripes and are sometimes horizontal, sometimes with a slight angle (maybe 10' from horizontal). Can it be fixed?

Re: Horizontal 'pinstripe' lines on all channels
Sound like the screen control on the flyback is set just a little too high. the flyback has the red wire attached to the tube. the flyback has 2 small adjustable controls. if you look close enough 1 is marked focus & on is screen. turn the screen slightly to the left & look at your picture. the screen is like a master brightness & if it's up too high you will see what is called retrace lines.

There is mainly two reasons for this fault. The smoothing capacitor to video output supply voltage be bad, or the screen voltage to CRT is more than normal. These lines [thin horizontal lines runs across the screen; an inch apart or so to entire screen] is technically called 'vertical retrace lines' If you wish to get more details about this fault, check this site. It has details about it. Pull up older posts there.
It sounds as though you have a poor signal issue. Firstly try rescanning all the channels. If no difference check the aerial/dish connections, then rescan. Lastly check the aerial/dish externally for misalignment and connectability.
A line on an LCD, either horizontal or vertical usually means the video driver board is defective or the screen is defective, does it show up as black even on a dark screen? That means a line of LCD "shutter"s is not working and there is a problem that cant be fixed by a reboot or channel change. Bummer.
Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages. Good Luck!
