my sony (blu-ray) dvd player wont play the movie hancock.the disc will load but not play . is there a fix????

  • a-dougk1 Dec 13, 2008

Yes, I've tried two copies of Hancock on my Sony Blu-ray player and both copies stop at the stylized eagle, but never reaches the main menu.

    What's up with that?

    Any fixes?

I have the same problem.  I have now obtained my second copy of Hancock.  It goes through the loading problem and stops at the Eagle symbol.

Is this a firmware problem.  The BDP-S300 plays all the other Blu-Ray discs fine?

    Help anyone?

  • Anonymous Dec 24, 2008

I have bought two of these and it wont work on mine either. It shows the eagle and then when the eagle fills it does not do anything more. I want to get another but I'm afraid it will be the same thing :(

Dell XPS 420 w/Blue-Ray. I've been in touch with Dell support, around and around we go. they suggest new software. I get new software, no change. After three attempts to fix they send me another blue-ray. Exact same problem with with new hardware. The mouse does nothing to the screen when I scroll over the icons. Same problem with the movie Iron Man. I found a solution though. I could open and play the movie with my keyboard arrow keys. TA DA!!! Although it doesn't allow you to scroll through the menu and change movie mode and such. I'm returning my Dell for a refund though, all this trouble and they are scratching their heads with no clue.

Ok EVERYONE. After emailing Sony Pictures, I took the second copy back to Fred Meyers put it in their active BluRay display player. I have a Sony BDP-S300 right at a year from purchase, they had a Sony BDP-S350 and my disk that did not work - played fine even past the eagle. I came home Downloaded and installed a Firmware update. Now my copy of Hancock that did not work works fine.. The simple answer is Update your Firmware

I went to Best Buy to test my theory of why Blue-ray players do not play Hancock, Iron Man, and many others. I posted the solution I found with the Dell Computer yesterday so I wanted to clarify if the same was true for HP and other systems. What I found was that the mouse was inactive and only the arrow keys worked on other computer systems with Windows Vista, I wasn't able to test XP. The computer staff at the store had no clue of the solution, but many had heard of disgruntled Blue-ray customers. When I tried the discs on a stand alone Blue-ray player the functionality was a little better but still not user friendly. The employees at the store were not surprised and didn't seem to mind that $30 Blue-ray movies were not easy to play on many systems. I'm holding off on further disc purchases and I'm not buying another Blue-ray player until this issue has been resolved.

I have a Sony Blue Ray Player and it wont play Avatar movie! What is the problem?

If you have one movie that it wont play, check to make sure the software/firmware is up to date. There are sometimes updates that fix issues like that.

My blu ray drive wont play blu ray movie's can someone help

Besides the Blu-ray drive, you also need a Blu-ray player software to play the Blu-ray disc. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player which is a free program and a 4K player.
