I found a cd-rom for Dinosaur Hunter, but when I try to install it for my son, it doesn't install the sound portion, and when I try to run it, it says that the sound wasn't installed properly and that I have to re-install. What could be wrong and how do I fix the problem? Is there any kind of installation software that I can download to get it to play?

Try running the install in compatibility mode for windows xp. Do this by exploring the cd rom, right clicking the setup file, and select compatibility, run this program in compatibility mode for win XP sp2.

D-rex dinosaur doesn't walk

Looks like anyone with a defective d-rex is out of luck. Bought mine at a thrift store cheap, without the remote. It did show some signs of life when I put batteries in it so I started looking for a remote. I only found them on eBay where people were asking as much as $100 for one. I finally settled on one for about $40 hoping that was all I needed. It lights up when I push the buttons but the d-rex doesn’t respond now, in fact it doesn’t show any signs of life now when I put good batteries in and turn it on. I’m pretty mechanically inclined, so I might try fixing it but that will require surgically removing the skin and hoping I can get it back on when I’m done. I’d love to hear from anyone else who’s tried it.

My DVD/CD-RW drive isn't recognized/ doesn't play disks.

It may be bad. Has the laptop been damaged? Dropped? Open Device Manager, DVD/CD Rom drives, is it listed? In Start Menu, Computer, Is it listed? Try re installing the DVD rom driver, the MS Vista 32bit drivers can be found here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/vostro-a860

I have a hewlitt packard computer that runs windows vista. When I try to install my cd rom DK DINOSAUR HUNTER it says to contact the software vendor to find out if there is a 64 bit version avalible. It ran...

Unfortunately, you may be out of luck. :( The newer 64-bit operating systems have trouble running the older programs that were designed for 32 or 16-bit platforms. You can try this however: open control panel, click on 'Programs', then click on 'Use an older program with this version of windows', follow the prompts and be sure to choose "I want to use the program in the CD drive". Good luck!

The patch for fixing the sound does not open

Most of the DK software was made for older computers that interacted with sound card hardware almost directly.

Todays sound cards are much more advanced.

DK also dont have much support for older oftware and even went third party for distribution etc.

If you have an older computer eg windows 98 tyhen it would probably run fine.

You could even try running it in compatibility mode under vista but I doubt it will fix your issue.

Dinosaur Hunter GSP (A2847M2X)

I have found the solution to help you all. You all need to download a small patch which only took 5 seconds for me. The website is http://support.selectsoft.com/products/D/LDDINHUNTJ.htm#Downloads

you need to click on DKSP1.exe under Downloads which is in blue on the left side of the page at the top. Once downloaded you can go to your game and play. This should help and i hope it does.
Happy game playing!

Windows xp service pack 2

Hi 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then press ENTER. 2. Locate and click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom 3. To disable automatically running CD-ROMs, change the Autorun value to 0 (zero). To enable automatically running CD-ROMs, change the Autorun value to 1. 4. Restart your computer. NOTE: This method disables automatically running CD-ROMs. If you want to disable automatically running CD-ROMs depending on the CD-ROM that you insert in the CD-ROM drive, you can press and hold down one of the SHIFT key while you insert the CD-ROM. This may help. Good Luck
