I think you are asking about a portable air conditioner, not a de-humidifier. With that assumed, the answer is, NO - that is not a good idea. The exhaust tube is for getting rid of the heat that you have pulled from the room you are cooling, plus the extra heat that the device itself creates. This is a considerable amount of heat, which will quickly heat up the closet and leak back into the room you are trying to cool. If the closet it tightly sealed, the unit will not be able to push the air through the tube, and the unit itself will overheat. The result will be that you will be buying electricity to actually RAISE the temperature of the room you are trying to cool.

Empty bucket, put back in, unit won't restart

this is a very ,very common complaint I get from folks on these , seems the shutoff float is most times part of the bucket (you take it with you to M/T tank) and it gets a little molested in the fervor(splashing) of getting a heavy tank over to M/T out , a few minutes of looking careful at it (top of tank) and most folks figure out what went wrong with it and snap it back where it goes correctly ( most machines use this same switch to confirm presents of tank installed) this makes it proof positive that there's a tank to drain water in instead of going all over the floor
and option is to convert the unit for constant M/T tube most units come with a kit for this

Why does Frigidaire dehumidifier send water outside bucket?

Good Afternoon Jean,

I understand that your Frigidaire dehumidifier, model# FAD704DWD, is putting the water that it collects out onto the floor as oppose to the bucket. I suggest contacting the manufacturer for more information. They should be able to point you in the right direction for assistance. Hope this is helpful.

The room my dehumidifier is in stays 80 degrees when the Haier is runnng. why

A dehumidfier works by heat, so it puts out a lot of heat that is exhausted back into the room. An air conditioner works with heat also and it also takes the humidity out of the air, BUT it exhaust to the outside.

Hello :) There is a tube that is hanging out of the back of the dehumidifier... so I need this to operate it? Can I use without it?

is there an internal storage tank for that unit. It is probably the drain tube for condensate. Put it into a bucket, run it, and see it water accumulates. If so, that's what it is, and must be put into a bucket, that then must be emptied frequently.

Have old edison 25 dehumidifier. can i put a tube

look for the drain hole from the collector pan under the tubes that fills the bucket, you could attache a hose there, by removing the bucket out of the way. newer models have a built in one.

Water from LG 30 pt dehumidifier drains into reservoir instead of running through garden hose into floor drain like it is supposed to. Have checked...no obstructions to garden hose. Very frustrating...must...

(assumming you are not an idiot, like the other solver suggested) you may very well have it connected to the right spot, many of these units, are not balanced well, (or are balnaced all to well, depending on how you look at it) The imbalance, basically makes the water drip to the front, instead of the back. Try to put something under just the front of the machine, to tilt it back, ever so slightly. Good luck
