Question about ViewSonic VPW505 50 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

Viewsonic vpw 505 won't turn on

I've had my 50" Viewsonic Plasma for about 3.5 years. I tried to turn the TV on and it wouldn't come on. I tried it again a few minutes later, it came on for about 1 second and went off. We noticed that not only was the green "ON" button not coming on but also the orange button that indicates power wasn't on either. We checked circuit breaker..fine. We checked the Main power switch in the was on. We thought maybe it was a bad outlet so we plugged it into another outlet but it still didn't work. We plugged a lamp to the TV's outlet to see if the outlet was the problem and it was working fine. Next we plugged the TV back into the original outlet and the orange light came on. We thought it was fixed. Within seconds the orange light went off again and we can't get any power at all. Spoke to the tech at the place where we purchased the TV. He said it sounds like it COULD be a power source and we needed to bring it in Does anyone know what that means? Just for them to look at it it's going to be $100. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

SOURCE: Picture goes out after 1 second, audio is fine

the problem is not the mian board but the DC to DC inverters that drive the lamps behind the panels some manufactures make them available seperate from the panel but most are a part of the panel. so the whole panel may have to be replaced.

I had two ViewSonic's that did the same thing right around 2 year as well. They worked really well for me and then just died.
I found out the first one had a faulty power cord, and the second one just wouldn't turn on at all.
I think there's a good chance that your monitor bit the big one just based on my experience with the brand. I would recommend taking it in to your local computer repair shop and let them take a look at it. If it is 2 years old then it is probably out of the manufacturer's warranty unfortunately. I hope this helps answer your question :(

I have a ViewSonic 42"

Take it as soon as possible to a tech. Check your warranty. It's either a software or hardware problem.

LG 50" Plasma Start Up Problems

The logical fix would be to activate your 3 year warranty, messing about yourself is unlikely to fix it and very likely to void your warranty. The time for do it yourself repairs is when you have no warranty.

Have parts for Viewsonic VPW-425 42"

If these are used parts or from a scrapped set, buying used parts would be a very risky investment.

Broken plasma tv model

The plasma usually has 2 sheets of glass, the outer one sounds ok which is not good news as these can be replaced.
The inner panel is the actual plasma layer and if it is craked or broken it usually requires a swapout for a new panel.
