Whirlpool gas dryer takes longer to dry though it heats up and turns, yet it has a humming/buzzing noise. What could be the problem?

Model # LGR76480. Serial # MS0501488. Dryer is about 6-12 years old.

Had the same problem. There was a bit of a kink in the vent duct which caused lint to build up in duct and also inside the dryer itself over years. I replaced the duct and took dryer apart and cleaned out the air passages. It works great now. As for the humming, mine started about 2 1/2 years ago and I still don't know why.

SOURCE: No heat to dry clothes. Dryer is 4.5 years old.

By far, on that machine the "thermal fuse" accounts for more than 50% of all heating problems.

Unplug machine and remove back cover. On the air chute in the middle back of the dryer you will see a small narrow bakelite device with 2 wires connected to it. It is held in with 1 screw.
You will need an ohm meter to test it, or remove it and have an
appliance parts house test it for you. If bad replace.
Whirlpool part #3392519.
The second common problem on that dryer is the heating element and can be checked with an ohm meter as well.

On rare occasions one side of the 230 volt supply is out.
The side running the motor is o.k. but the heater side has lost power.

Caution: your dealing with 230 volts here. remove plug receptacle cover and check with a volt meter for power.

SOURCE: my gas dryer has no heat

long dry times are a venting problem. if no heat at all it could be your ignitor, a thermal fuse, or the secondary gas coils, all are replaceable and reasanoblyy cheap between 30-90 dollars usually so its up to u it u want to repair it.. if long dry times i would unplug the venting from the rear and dry a load if it heats faster than u know ur venting is clogged and u might wanna clean ur ducting and replace that venting tube. also u can go outside while running and see or feel if air is being pushed out while its running hope this helps let me know how it goes

I have a Whirlpool duet gas dryer model WGD9400SUO. I can hear the heat turn on but it no longer stays on.

Hi,

Please make sure that you've removed all of the lint from your dryer prior to every cycle. Next, try to see if the varying the load size effects whether your clothes are heated or not.

If all else fails, please schedule an inspection by Whirlpool by calling 1 (866) 698-2538. Thank you.

People, the first words the poster said were that the dryer was "brand new". All of your suggestions assume the dryer had extensive use. This sounds like a factory defect issue!!!! My brand new Maytag Cabrio gas dryer is also making an obnoxious buzzing sound that seems to cycle on and off as the gas ignites. The buzzing sounds electronic not mechanical. What would buzz when the burner is active?

Could be a couple things, depending on the buzz you are getting, if it's a buzz from the board like an alarm, it could be a door switch, if it's an electric sounding humming buzz it could be something stuck in your blower wheel like a sock

Have a Whirlpool gas dryer, model #LGR4634JQ2, that will not heat anymore and has a rattling noise every now and then. Any ideas?

The rattling noise is maybe a sort of buzzing only more metallic? Sounds like the coils on the gas valve making it flutter. Causes are the coils and/or the ignitor.

Buzzing noise

The buzzing you are experiencing is most likely the electric valve solenoid coil.
That is the valve that lets gas in when the stove is turned on.
Another source of buzzing/humming can be a mechanical clock, if hter is one.
If it is digital, then it woul not make noise.
