  • CRUZER 2 Dec 08, 2007

I have a Sandisk Cruzer mini 1Gb. It has the CruzerLock 2 encryption. After plugging it in I get the four icons for the various operations ie the adobe quick start file and the tutorials file as well as the secure data storage file and then there is the CruzerLock 2 file that allows opens up the secure data storage files after I enter the password. Now when I click on that icon I get this message "CLZ1020: cannot locate the application in its correct location SecureDataStorRM\Files|SecurDataStor.exe" Now I have about 280 Gb. of files encrypted that I really wouldn't mine retrieving were that possible. I have e-mailed Sandisk all of this information and have never heard back from them (about 6 Months) I would be glad to hear if anyone else has had a similar problem.

If this is the old Metal super slim drives then you are most likely SOL. I had 3 go bad in a 6 month period. These are not U3 but have a bad habit of becoming corrupted and formatting will not work.

I've tried low level formatting from windows, dos, linux and even several partitioning programs to correct the drive. No go.

I've inquired from Sandisk with recommendation of buying a new drive. I use PNY now because of the issues with the Sandisk drives.I loved how small these where and the fact that they had a nice metal case.

Does the device have "U3" on it? If so, it doesnt act like a normal flash drive. If it does have the "U3" System on it, you can run the removal tool from the SanDisk Website. The U3 launchpad should be running to uninstall. http://sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1415 Best of Luck.

My Sandisk 1gb micro cruzer is having the same problem. Trying to format it using the windows format utility doesn't work either. It tells you it can't complete the operation. Does anyone know if there is a utility out there that allows you to re-initialize a Sandisk 1gb micro cruzer?

SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive now tells me that it is a read only file. I copied a file and renamed it. Now when I do new work I get a message that tells me I have a read only disc or

Open a command prompt and remove all file bits.Windows Button > type CMD and press enter.
  • CD <drive letter:\> press enter
  • attrib -R -A -H -S <file path\file name>

This will clear the read-only bit, archive, system and hidden bits.

Also right click the file and go to security and make sure you have write permission to the file.

Also verify this flash drive doesn't have a physical write protect switch

Micro 8GB cruzer

Hi,
Save all your files on your computer before doing this.
Uninstall U3 from settings on launchpad.
Format your USB. Do not Quick format.
Reinstall U3: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1411 (only works with Sandisk)
Drag your files into the USB. No more problems!
If anymore problems, reply!
Hope this helps!
