SOURCE: Vector VEC438 AM/FM/Weather Radio my AC adapter

I have one of these too. Here is the information, in case you don't still have the adapter.
Ktec
Model KA12D090050034U
Input 120V AC 60Hz 95mA
Output 9V DC 500 mA

The inner part of the plug is the positive side.

Try googling the model number above. I did and found several sources. If you still have the adapter and only the power supply itself is bad (but the plug is still good), you may be able to splice on another 9 volt DC adapter, as long as the power output is 500 mA or greater. If you go this route, make sure to check the polarity before plugging it into the radio.

SOURCE: Vector Model VEC438: Won't power-on

Hello,
Your Vector is having an hardware problem. The best you can do is to service it and you might be lucky it responds to the servicing. There is no major fix to this problem...
Get a screw driver, disassemble the vector. Get a tooth brush and mentholated spirit, dip the tooth brush into the mentholated spirit, and use it to wash/clean the vector's board. After that, dry the vector board under heat from sunshine or any electric device. The heat should dry the board. Wait a while for the board to cool. Assemble the vector back together then try again.
If the above doesn't help, replace the battery.
If non of the above seems to help, then you might have to use the vector like that as there is not major fix to this problem..... It's a problem from the mother board.
Keep me posted.
Regards.

Power won't stay on

Home Depot recalled all of them for this reason. Great radio, just use reachable batteries instead of the charger stand. The stand and OEM battery is the problem. I kept mine and use rechargeable's instead.
