I have the FDX 0700 T with the same problem, no picture. It is becoming evident to me that these undre the counter units have an inheirent problem and should be covered under a recall. I don't think my unit has been on for 20 hours total we occasionally whatch the news while having dinner but really the unit has'nt had much playing time.If anyone has a solution I'd love to hear it.

No picture. Sounds like I've lost my inverter like everyone else. Where can I get the replacement inverter board?

We have only had our tv for 2 years and today the picture went out. We have audio but not picture. Where do we find a technician or will Polaroid step up and help. It appears tha alot of other owners are having the same problem which suggests a product defect.

Unfortunately, I have had my unit for less than two years and today we lost our image on the screen. It blacked out completely. What is Polaroid doing to compensate for their srew up? Has anyone tried to get a replacement unit? I normally throw all paper work away after a while when I see the unit is properly working. What kind of warranty is being offered?

The dark screen problem with most of these units is due to a failure of the backlight inverter board. It is poorly designed, and sending the unit back to the manufacturer will only get you another unit that will also eventually fail. Also, replacing the bad chip on existing inverter boards will also only result in a short-term fix. I have purchased a number of these units (9) on eBay and replaced the inverter board with a different unit made by a reliable inverter manufacturer. A year later, all of the units are still operating.

Unfortunately, the replacement board does not have the same connectors and pinouts as the original, so it is something that must be done in a shop by an experienced technician. I am hesitant to post the instructions as it is a little tricky and the output of the unit is 900 volts. It would be dangerous for someone unfamiliar with this technology to do it on their own. I will look into the policies of this site and see if I can post my contact information so that owners of these units can send them for repair.

Hello, I have an denon avr-3801 and have the same problem that my set up will not pop up on the display screen. one expert on here said it can be disabled on the remote, and to enable it. How do you do...

The setting on Page 26 says it only turns OSD off for messages other than the Menu Screens. If you could turn the menus off how would you ever turn them back on?

If you are using only component video, see page 10, 3rd bullet.

"The AVR-3801’s on-screen display signals are not output from the color difference (component) video output jacks (MONITOR OUT)."

It needs an s-video or composite path for the OSD.

Onkyo TX-SR706 Setup Display Problem

For adjustments to receiver you can always run a component or composite cable to your plasma tv. After adjustments are made just return to HDMI input.

Gui does not come up on screen

Possible causes & solutions, in order of simplicity:
1. Wrong input selected on TV - Reconfirm you have selected the input corresponding to the receiver's MON. OUT connection, e.g., component video, S-video.
2. Wrong output set on receiver - Reconfirm you haven't previously selected an output on the receiver that is unavailable on your TV, e.g., on some receivers, HDMI cannot be used for on-screen display. The front panel may show the setting as a backup for no on-screen display. If not, you may have to reset the receiver to factory defaults -- find out how to do this in the manual.
3. For component video or HDMI only -- Output signal from receiver may be set to a mode that the TV cannot process, e.g. 720p for a TV with only 480i/480p/1080i capability.
4. If the receiver is a high-end model with "Pure Direct" or similar settings that have been selected, the video circuitry and possibly also the OSD may be unavailable. Try switching to a normal setting or another input.
By the way, the usual term for the menus from an AV receiver is "on-screen display (OSD)" -- not "GUI (graphical user interface)," which is more appropriate for computers or cell phones.

I used to get OSD on the TV with my receiver, but it has gone and I don't know what setting to do to get it back. It is a Pioneer VSX-917V-s/-K. Thanks

did you happen to change to cable connecting the Reciever to the TV to an HDMI?

please note that the OSD will not appear if you have connected using the HDMI output to your TV.
Use component, S-video or composite connections for system setup.

On-screen display (OSD) isn't coming up because you're only viewing picture from your Blu-Ray player. You need to switch TV input over to your receiver to get the OSD. But you probably figured that out by now. Don't worry, I've done that before too.

OSD not working (black screen)

Your 635 will not display the OSD screen through component. You must use either s-video or rca. It won't upconvert the screen menu this route.
I had one up until a week ago. There are two outputs on the back specifically for the OSD screen. I used a separate old 13" TV with s-video to do my setups. Hope this helps.

Blank display on a Onkyo TX-SR501

try to connect the receiver to a tv via the monitor out from the receiver to the tv. you may be able to see the OSD (on screen display of your settings) change the function on that to turn on the front display. alternatively look on your remote to see if you can turn up the light of the front display.

if these don't work possible that the light of the display has blown.

good luck

is the screen lit up?
If so the video module is bad.
replace the surface mount caps app. 8 to 10
or replace module
