The capacitor must be replaced if not working. They are not made to be repaired.

SOURCE: Capicator

Sounds like someone has replaced the origional split cap (fan,herm,common..not compressor) with two seperate units. The voltage doesnt really matter its the MFD rating that will need to be the same. The larger #mfd capacitor will be the compressor's and the smaller the fan motors' capacitor. Since it does have two seperate caps than the liklihood that they are your problem is slim i would look elsewhere.

SOURCE: where is the fuse/breaker on a goodman cple 18-1

Hi, I wanted to look up the numbers you gave me as you listed 2 different model numbers, the CPLE-18-1 is a 1&1/2 remote condenser and the other you showed CPLE-24-1 is a 2 ton unit. Doesn't matter, but if your power was lost you have your main breaker box at your meter, and at the condenser you will have a disconnect box with a pull out type plug. If you see no fuses, try removing the plastic cover as they are required to install 2-fuses in side the box also. If this is a split system with the outdoor and indoor unit, you will also have a breaker inside for the indoor unit, its high voltage and you will have a circuit board in the indoor unit with a 3 to 5 amp auto type plug in fuse.
I hope this has helped you out on this. I will be here if you have more questions. Please do not forget to rate me as I know you will be kind. Keep me posted.
Sincerely,

What could be wrong with my Goodman CPLE 42-1.

Have you checked the wire terminals at the compressor. They tend to get very brittle and burn up rather frequently. Have you checked for voltage at the compressor terminals once the relay closes? If you have 220V at the terminals its working properly, most likely your compressor is shorted. Pull the wires of the terminals and check their resistance/continuity. If they are OK check for a short between the housing and each terminal, there should be no circuit to ground at any terminal, if there its shorted, need a new one.

I have a goodman cple42-1 The fan motor outside was not running and I was able to get it started but the house wont cool now. air is blowing but not cold.

the capacitor is possibly bad the indoor fan uses its own capacitor while the outdoor fan and compressor share a capacitor
