Loud Humming Noise

I have a loud humming noise whenI first turn on the TV.. It lasts for about 10 minutes before eventually fading to a small buzz that the TV sound drowns out. The picture still looks fine though. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be?
Thanks!

My problem is the same as mparksputts's as of the last couple of weeks.

I slid the try out that contains the light bulb and it seemed to have less of a hum after carefully cleaning the fan behind the light after i put all back into place it still hums, but quieter. Is the fan wearing out?

    thoughts?

I have the same issue. But now we have no picture and only sound. The hum is still there and it seems to "rev" up and "rev" down at times. We are looking into replacing the bulb but now we are concerned that it is more than just the bulb since in july of 2008 someone with this issue posted they replaced the bulb and still have the same issue. Any suggestions? We can't afford a technician to come out and/or afford to get ripped off.

Periodically when we turn on the tv or if it has been on for a while, it makes a very loud humming noise. We have turned it off and after a little while, the noise will stop. Happened twice today, when turning it on and then we smelled an odor, like parts may be hot or burning. Could it be the fan not spinning properly? Please help. Already replaced the bulb and the vertical hold in the past and did not have this noise either of those times.

    Thanks.

I have a loud humming noise that stays on the entire time the TV is on. The picture is still great but the noise is very annoying. It sounds like a fan vibrating.

Samsung is notorious for having the motor on the color wheel burn out. If the color on the tv starts to fade or shift tones when the rev'ing or noise is happening then you'll know its the color wheel. There are only two moving parts in this set, the color wheel and the fans. If you're smelling something, it could be either. Take the back off the set and put a piece of tape on the lamp door switch and turn the set on. Try to pinpoint the source of the noise. If its a fan, no big deal, Radio shack should have a replacement. If it sounds like its comming from under the set, dig a little deeper and try unhooking the color wheel motor, not as easy as I am making it sound but either way the fan is about $20 to fix and the color wheel is about $100. Sure beats a $400 tech bill. If you get stuck, comment back and I'll send pictures of the dismantle.

The power transformer. Nothing to worry about unless it goes out.

How do I fix loud humming noise in my DLP HLP4663W 42 IN Samsung TV?

I would start by checking all the cooling fans to see if one is dirty or possibly failing.

I hear a sharp snap then a loud humming noise which sounds electrical. If I turn the refrigerator switch off, then on, the humming stops. Otherwise, it lasts 10 to 15 minutes. Its getting louder.

DID U CHECK UR EVAPORATOR FAN AND LISTEN IF THE NOISE IS COMING FROM IT? COULD BE BROKEN OR IMPEEDED IMPELLER HITTING SOMETHING ON START UP THEN GOING INTO A HUM?

Singer Touch-tronic 2000 makes loud humming/buzzing noise, stitch selector lights quit working, needle bar stopped moving.

Sounds like you've got a thread jam going on in the bobbin case area. Good cleaning and a new needle will probably fix it. See: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091202121550AAHxN8y

When the color wheel starts to go there is a high pitched whinning sound, the humming could be from the light engine or ballast, which may or may not be related to the color wheel. I would have to see it and test things for a correct diagnoses, but it does at least sound like a color wheel in the last moments of its life
