use a CRT monitor temporarily while you re-install the drivers for the monitor
SOURCE: Screen goes blank also.
The thing with removing the power from the back of the monitor and holding the Down Button down whilst plugging back in the power does work. My 19inch Monitor was having the same sort of problem. White lines would appear as I turned on the monitor. I did the hard reset on the monitor and it works! I was awed and amazed.

most likely is the power supply in the monitor.
gateway LCD has a building power supply in the monitor. it supplies 38W to the lamp.
since there is no display, it tells me that there is no power to the monitor.
if try another monitor and it works fine. then the problem is the monitor. (dispaly lamp is good for 17 Years- according to the tech spec.) but the power supply is pushing too much power.
other vendors max power is apporximately 30W.
make sure there is nothing behind the monitor and has good air flow. Since there is no fan in the unit. it need to vent the hot air natually.

Don't drag out your soldering gun these are too high wattage and will melt the board. Use a 40 to 25 watt soldering iron.

This is the link to the xerox install info. This should fix the problem. If it does not please list the CPU OS and video card you have. Before connecting the LCD monitor make sure in your display properties are set to a refresh rate of 60 hertz. You can set refresh rate by going to the control panel in windows and display settings properties.
