Maybe you don't have your wireless turned on. Look onboth sides and in front for the Wireless Switch and turn it on.

Also once the wireless switch is turned on there are keystrokes that can togglethe wireless on or off. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN functionkey located at the lower left of the keyboard, then hit the correct F1 thru F12key that toggles the wireless. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit willhave the wireless signal icon )))) on it. Or it might have the icon of a towerwith the wireless signal icon )))). Normally the screen will displayWireless On or Wireless Off when you toggle the wireless.
Some laptops don't have wireless buttons. You toggle it by the keystrokes described above. If there is a wireless button it will be located above the keyboard, on the sides or in front of the laptop.
According to your manual, the wireless switch is on the side of the laptop. See page 15 of the manual. I have provided a link below for the manual.

Vaio wireless MOUSE VGP-WMS1

Sony VAIO don't need special drivers. These have special receivers that ONLY work with intended models. The receiver is connected via USB inside the computer and it has a button that says "Connect" you have to press it simultaneously on the computer and the mouse or keyboard in order to pair it.

if you don't have the correct Sony VAIO computer you don't have that hardware that connects to the mouse and keyboard.

How do you connect sony vaio wireless keyboard to main unit

Wireless keyboards have two components, the dongle and the keyboard unit itself. Try this:

1. Make sure your keyboard has working batteries
2. Plug in the USB dongle onto a slot in your computer
3. Click on the Connect button on both th dongle and the keyboard.

Sony VGP-WKB5 VAIO Wireless Keyboard unable to connect

Disconnect all devices from your PC including usb mouse and power adaptor.
Press power button and hold it for 20 seconds.
This will statically discharge teh PC. THen take out batteries from the keyboard and pres connect button to discharge keyboard.
When this is done connect pc to the mains and turn it on
Put batteries into keyboard and try to connect.
Press connect button on the pc first and then within few seconds press connect button on the keyboard.
