Question about Apex Digital GB4308 43" Rear Projection EDTV-Ready Television

Open Question

I have a large horizontal black line in the middle of the screen.

The line comes and goes and sometimes a 2nd line is there at the bottom of the screen. It is connected to cable and we had the cable guy in and he said it is not due to their equipment. Also sometimes if you turn the main power button off when you try to turn the TV on again you get a blue screen. You then have to play with the power button turning it on and off until it finally comes in with wavy lines...after a while a clearer picture comes in and then the black line comes back. The black line sometimes disappears and then reappears. Seems like light colored backgrounds make it appear more often as do cartoons.

SOURCE: 51 big screen apex tv, convergence or verticle IC?

If the lines are thin and close together running horizontally, it may be the vertical driver, but that usually takes out the resistor and sometimes the diode in the B+ for the vert. Also you must replace the caps that caused the problem in the first place.

I am not familiar with this particular set, but it sounds like you have no vertical deflection, which would mean your vertical output IC may be bad. The # on those ICs usually start with LA and is mounted to a heatsink.

Our Toshiba Regza LCD TV has developed a thin white vertical line down one side and a green horizontal line across the middle. The bottom half of the TV screen then comes and goes in muted and faded...

Hello,

All Plasma and LCD TV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken . Good luck in solving the problem....

Black Horizontal Line in Screen

hi all .ive had the same problem,a thick black line down screen.sometimes it flickers from top to bottom and other permantly in view.but i have solved it.forget your ic boards and taking apart tv.have you got either a ps3 or wii connected to tv.if so unplug power lead from socket and relocate in seperate socket.make sure the lead is completely free of any other leads and you might just find this works.i think the power lead creates some sort of frequency that the tv picks up .good luck hope it works

No picture no sound

Did you mean the picture is collapsed only in the middle horizontally(white line appears on the middle part of the screen)?
If that is the case, maybe vertical IC failed or loose connection.

Many thin black horizontal lines on my Hitachi Ultravision 50" TV

Good Day, LDS also;
You may have a poor seated cable connector. Unplug TV from A/C, remove back look for a large black connector. It connects between the Main Digital Module and the Drive PWB. Re-insert both ends several times to make better contact, use contact cleaner if have but not always needed. Good Luck, big IRISH.
