Question about Samson MDR16 16 Channel Mixer

Samson MDR16 won't turn on

The speakers pop slightly when I plug the power cord into the wall so I know it's getting power but non of the lights are on and no sound will come from it. Nearby interference from a laptop connected to the system causes snow and popping the speakers (nothing new) but still no sound from the instruments or mics.

Go check out these pictures, and there is some good info about micing up your drums. :) Recording it is then a case of getting levels good for a start by worling your way around the kit one drum at a time setting the level for that drum. a bit of nice reverb in the mix and out come you drums.... whoooohhooooo

you first 3 people are idiots... maybe if you had worked with the hardware you would know how the mic works because its obvious you don't. The 4th person is correct because this is exactly how i use the mic and it captures sound in stereo format beautiful when set up rite. Using it in mono, whether use keep on one channel or two drastically reduces the crisp sound that this mic can record.

try this;

1.using different usb inputs on your pc desk top
2.update drivers on both your desk top and laptop
3.using a different usb cable

if it works fine on your friends computer most likely its not the mic

The quick, easy solution is to change your microphone to mono recording. In the attached YouTube clip, I'll show you how to do that.

The short and simple is to go to your Mac HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup. Select your C01U USB device, and set it to 1ch 16bit. This will set the microphone to record in mono, equally over both speakers.

Ryobi problems

This is not that bad of a problem we should be able to resolve this-
bring a lamp or radio which ever one you have used and know it works plug it into the wall outlet if your lamp or radio work then we know its the plug, now plug in yr Ryobi random orbital sander it should work to do not involve an extension cord while we are trouble shooting if neither have worked on the same plug you must have a 3 way light switch on the wall that needs to be turned on, try and slightly spread the the metal blades on yr Ryobi outward for a better contact between cord blades and wall plug make sure you have firmly pressed in the the on off switch.
Ryobi tests all of its factory reconditioned power tools before they are sent back to be sold in stores to the public...

Samson sound system in a church has a continuous hum. Speakers are not routed around fluorescent lights or power lines.

You have a short. This is either from a bad cable or a faulty price of gear.

to find the problem do you want to isolate pieces of the system. Turn on just your speakers (if they're powered) or amps (if the speakers are not powered). With the mixer off, if you were getting a pause the short exists after the mixer. No buzz? Great! Turn the amps or speakers off to prevent popping. Turn on the mixer, and then turn on the speakers or amps. If you have a bus now with all channels on the mixer down it is likely your mixer. If there is no buzz, Bring the channels up one at a time. Once you find the buzz, turn the channel back down and plug unknown working microphone and cable into its channel. If the Mike buzzes when you bring the channel up it's the channel on the mixer. If it does not then the issue exists before the mixer. This is most likely and also the least expensive to resolve. Check the snake if you have one and all cables in line in a similar fashion. Most likely a snake channel has failed, you have a bad cable plugged in the snake Or you have a bad DI box or mic plugged in.

Try disconnecting all of your HDMI cables and plugging the power cord of the TV into another wall outlet. If this resolves the issue, you may have had a small power surge from either your wall outlet or one of your source devices. It is recommended to connect your TV to a surge protector if you haven't done so already.

My samson servo 300's sound keeps cutting out, want to spray some electronic cleaner but not sure where ?

Yes; It maybe the protection coming on and off. This means there is a short in a speaker wire , or a blown speaker. The amp has 2 options for speaker hook up.1/4" plug and direct wire. If you are using direct wire it is possible to have frayed ends hanging around and can cause a short. You can test the speakers by unplugging them at the speaker, before you turn on the amp. Then turn it on, if the clicking still persist's turn off the amp and disconnect the speaker wires from the amp . Turn the amp back on. If the clicking still persists there is an internal problem with the amp. If not then you defiantly have either a wiring or speaker problem . You can test the speakers by using a 9v battery . Hook up the speaker wire to the speaker and put the battery on the other end of the wire, you should hear the speaker pop and see it move.If it moves it is still good. Note* this is also a good method of making sure your speakers are in phase. The battery is marked + & - the speaker will move forward when + is applied to the + of the speaker. make note of which wire is the +. if you get one speaker backwards it will cancel the sound of the bass. so hook the + to the red on the amp. TV won't turn on. No picture or sound. Please Help !

If the red light won't come on it is not getting power.First,try plugging it in to a different outlet,or unplug one of the gadgets you know is working and plug the tv in there.You are simply switching.If you know that there is power coming from the outlet and it still won't come on then you'll have to check the cord;don't go much farther than that without expert help.

Short answer from personal experience.

There is no way around this part. Get a separate power amp for the 901's if you want to use them in a multichannel way or alongside non-901 speakers.

Connect the Active EQ between the pre-outs and the amp input.

Run speaker assignment, levels, etc and have fun.

Helpful Hint: If you don't have sufficient between-speaker room for proper reflection off the front wall you CAN turn the 901's around and you won't believe the amount of air these things push! I have actually felt it ten feet away after explosions or crashing ocean wave sounds. Now THAT is multi-media.

Almost any amplifier will work so there is no "best"... Just make sure the amp RMS rating is a bit below the RMS rating of the speaker for safety of the speaker. A QSC GX5 would be a candidate. You would use one side of it for each speaker if you have two, or use only one side for a single speaker. A lot of pro's seem to use these amps. USE BALANCED interconnections either XLR or TRS cables AND for sure power the amp and the mixer from the same receptacle... it often means running an extension cord like the pro's do to avoid ground bounce noise AND damage to the equipment.

unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet
hold down the power button for a minute to drain power
plug the power cord back in to the wall
press # and 3 on the keypad while plugging in the power cord to the back of the printer
let go of the keys when the printer starts up

Buzzing sound when sub is on even without turning my amp on, if you can call me on my phone 909 938 9219 it be better for me thanks, i am little slow with my computer, please help

Buzzing is usally AC line noise leaking into an un-shielded cable somewhere or a floating ground. If the AC plug is reversible, try that. Sometimes the buzz is from an attached device. Make sure all audio cables are plugged in tightly at each end and routed away from or at right angles to any power cords and away from other sources of strong magnetic fields like TV's.

Disconnect the input(s) and see if it hums in the absence of an audio source. A bad audio cable shield or unwisely-routed audio cables will allow entrance of unwanted signals from external power sources, magnetic fields, even dimmer-controlled track lights.
I've also seen variable track lights induce noise but it's usually minor.

Try rotating the power cord in the wall outlet.

If it still buzzes with no cables or anything external attached there's an internal problem.
