Question about Toshiba MD20P1 20 in. TV/DVD Combo

1 Answer

Set will not stay powered up

Set shut off during a DVD playback and wouldn't stay powered up after that. It would shut down in about 5 seconds after restart or quicker if another button on television or remote was pressed. Disconnecting from the power source for an extended period increased the amount of time that the set would stay on to about a minute.

SOURCE: toshiba md20p1c tv power won't stay on

The problem is Q401. Change it. It is a 2SC1624 but a 2SC1018 will also work. This solution will work for other Toshiba P combo units.

SOURCE: Unit shuts off automatically after power on.

You have an internal short in the electrical line. your wall a/c [120 volts] goes inside and is converted [changed] to DC [ like a super battery] There are a lot of connections coming out of this POWER SUPPLY[super battery] to FEED other electrical circuit. ANY one of the circuits can demand more then power supply can give and will cause it to SHUT DOWN [turn off to protect itself]
unless u know what u are doing [" DANGER!! wILL rOBINSON, DANGER!!] you should not mess with it.

You need a competent tech to look at the possibility that the power supply has failed - seems the most likely explanation

Vostro 1000 powers on for 5 seconds then shuts down

i'd pull the ram out and see if it stays on w/one stick at a time, also make sure your fan is functioning, because that will also prevent it from staying on

Screen went black. Shut t.v. off and tried to turn it back on. Power comes on, front light is green, and in about 3 seconds the t.v. shuts off, green light goes off. Was playing dvd at the time. Shut off...

MOST OF THESE SETS HAVE A SELF DIAGNOSTIC:

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ONFOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD "device" and "menu"buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protectthe Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergenceIC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES ANDTHEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOUHAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and twoblinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix. SD TECH

How do you program into the dvd that you want it to fast forward quickly? There is a way but am not sure how it is done.

You don't, you just press the FORWARD button on remote during DVD playback to 'fast forward' (pressing this button a second time during playback increases forward scan speed). The forward and reverse buttons have 'SLOW/SEARCH' printed above them on the remote. The other buttons next to them are the PREV/NEXT buttons (SKIP/INDEX).

DVD playback speed/skip/search is mostly a manual user function; it cannot be auto set.
