I also had this problem, and just unplugged it from my laptop and lt the player turn off by its self. I then plugged it back into the wall socket, so as not to "confuse" it with charging from the laptop.
All good again after that.

Midway through playing a song my ipod has frozen and none of the buttons are working. Nothing happens when I connect it to my PC via USB. The screen is still on but it has frozen.

Hi,

problem can be solved.

Before connecting the phone to the computer, did you scan for virus?, it not, that means the mp3 player has been affected by virus that is what makes the mp3 player freezes.

The mp3 players memory has been lost due to virus in it and can be restored by flashing it.

Flashing the mp3 will restore the lost memory.

After flashing the mp3 player, the lost memory will be restored and it will come on normally.

Take care.

Sony nwz-e436f frozen on connecting screen

Hey! We've had a similar dilemma, and we solved it by connecting walkman to computer, then going into 'device manager' uninstalling the walkman, then remove it from usb port and re-connect it.

The computer will then 'recognize new hardware' and automatically re-install the walkman. Good as new!

Hope this helps!

try resetting it
if that fails try taking the battery out for a few seconds to clear the error out

still no luck consider it dead and buy new one

Screen frozen player will not do anything

Have you tried:
1) pressing and holding the reset button (little hole on the bottom right of the player" for 10 seconds?
2) removing the battery for 10 seconds?
3) connecting it to your PC with the battery removed?
4) connecting it to your PC and pressing the reset button for 10 seconds?

Connecting to PC

I'm sure as a new buyer, the last owner did not tell you this. This is what the player does. there will not be full, white battery until you remove the USB, usually, i leave my player on for about 2 hours to be sure. the 'Connecting to PC' screen is what the standard screen is during USB connection to the PC is. Once you remove the connection (remove the USB from the PC for the player) it will jump to a new screen. 'Creating Database'. Don't worry, your player is not frozen, it's standard.

System Error 32

I just got same error message on mine. It was completyely frozen and wouldn't even turn off. After freaking out and head butting the wall a few times (neither of these methods work BTW) I simply removed the battery and issue resolved itself

Cheers, Tim

Sync with windows media player

I have the same issue where my pc won't recognise my mp3, or only occassionally does, and then locks up. The problem with media player is it eats up so much memory while trying to synch files / delete / add etc and brings your pc to a grinding halt. So the solution I'm told is the MS Synch Tool, download off MS site and use it rather than the player to switch your files. I'm trying it now.
