Unit turns itself on in standby mode

The unit turns itself on in standby mode and starts playing a dvd by itself. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

This can be a very irritating problem. Happened to me too. The only thing to do is after you turn off the unit with the remote, go to the unit and physically turn off the power to the unit with the manual Power on/off switch on the left side of the unit. Nothing else works.

I still have the same problem ct mode will not go away on my sc-pt750

You're under the impression that we see an historical thread that connects this request with a previous one. We don't. Start over. Tell us what is wrong and what you've done already.

This previous Fixya post addresses something similar.

Or is it "CD" mode??

There's a discussion of "CD Mode" on page 16 of the manual.

"If all loaded discs are DVDs, CD Mode does not work.

HighMAT menus and Video CD playback control are disabled.

You cannot turn CD Mode on or off during program or random mode.

If you want to play a DVD, press [CD MODE] again while stopped to cancel CD Mode. (CD Mode is also canceled when you switch the unit to standby, select another source, or change the disc in the play position.)

DVD and JPEG are skipped without being played."

I am seeing the code H02 on the display panel when attempting to play a DVD. I have attempted to play several different DVD's. I have also switched the unit to standby mode then back on. I then...

This is what the manual says:

Trouble may have occurred. The number following "H" depends on the status of the unit.
Reset procedure:
Press [POWER ?/I] to switch the unit to the standby mode and then back to ON. Alternatively, press
[POWER ?/I] to switch the unit to the standby mode, disconnect the AC power supply cord, and then
reconnect it.
If the service numbers fail to clear, note the service number and contact a qualified service person.

I know these things you have tried so here is the contact information for customer service:

In the U.S.A., contact the Panasonic Customer Call Center at
1-800-211-7262, or e-mail [email protected], or the
website (http://www.panasonic.com).

Problems with Sony RDR-GX300 DVD Recorder....I HAVE THE ORIGINAL REMOTE FOR THIS UNIT AND IT WILL NOT CONTROL IT...BNUT WHEN I POINT IT AT A SONY T.V. IT WILL WORK ON THAT UNIT????

Try changing the "command mode" switch on bottom right corner of remote. Setting 3 is the default code. This setting must match the setting in the system setup menu.

When you play a recorded show from a DVD player

As long as you leave the unit in standby mode and do not change the disc in the meantime, it should start from the last position.

If, however, you're smart enough to have bought DVD-RAM discs (they're ACE!), you can just hit Create Chapter on the remote control and skip directly to that chapter when you next view that disc.

Stuck on Standby

Do a hard reset. Unplug it from the socket, the DVD and leave disconnected for 4 hours. This may or may not help, but it is a necessary step to restore all internal software codes to their factory settings.

Hope this may help;

System unresponsive when modes are switched

Sounds like there may be a glitch in the microprocesor. Make sure when you unplug it that you leave it along for a few days and is there any type of clock or standby batterys in it take them out as well. If that dosent correct the problem your gonna need a service manual to trace the switch pulse to see if the units Switch matrix lines are low or lost because of a faulty micro or a bad componet like a small caps they install on the matrix to keep noise off them. Hard one to call with out seeing unit and analizing unit Good Luck
