Question about LaCie (300728U) 250 GB Hard Drive
I was copying an avi file from the 250GB lacie porsche hard drive (USB2) and the USB cable got removed while the copy was in progress. I tried restarting the computer but the hard drive isnt regonised. it makes a strange noise when turned on, a different noise from before the problem began. also the power light on the hard drive now blinks orange and yellow (whereas before it was always orange). i have tried scanning for new hardware and it cannot find the hard drive. i have also tried pluggin it into another computer and this does not work either. please if anyone could help i would be extremely grateful.
I had the same problem on my lacie 500 gig. i went ahead and opened the lacie hd and put it in another external casing. and it worked. no data was lost. as for the problem i would guess that the lacie external casing circuts must of shorted.

IN SPANISH...USE TRADUCTOR OR TRANSLATE.... TRATA DE USAR UN SOFTWARE LLAMADO PARTITION MAGIC DESDE LA SE?AL C: O SEA BAJO DOS.... PERO ANTES CONTESTAME TU BOOT O SOFTWARE DE INICIO RECONOCE EL DISCO DURO?... SI NO LO HACE O ES UNA DA?O LOGICO O SEA DE LA TARJETA DEL DISCO DURO, O FISICO, DEL DISCO EN SI, LO CUAL EXPLICARIA EL RUIDO.... HAY EN INTERNET SOFTWARE FREE.... PARA DIAGNOSTICO Y HASTA REPARACION... UNO DE LOS MEJORES SE LLAMA HIREN´S BOOT CD Y SE BAJA COMO UN ISO Y LUEGO LO GRABAS EN UN CD LUEGO HACES BOOT CON EL Y CORRES EL SOFTWARE QUE QUIERAS, INCLUYENDO EL PARTITION MAGIC, ESPERO QUE TENGAS SUERTE. SI PUEDO SERTE DE MAS AYUDA TENDRIAS QUE SER UN POCO MAS ESPECIFICO. HAY OTRO SOFTWARE BAJO LINUX LLAMADO KANOPPIX Y EL EN OCASIONES RECONOCE LO QUE OTROS SISTEMAS OPERATIVOS NO HACEN.... ASI POR LO MENOS RECUPERARIAS TU INFORMACION Y SI ESTAS DE BUENAS LO FORMATEAS DE NUEVO Y RECUPERAS TU DISCO. ESTE TAMBIEN LO CONSIGUES EN INTERNET Y ES FREE.

SOURCE: I was copying an avi
maybe problem is caused by your Power supply.
so i recommend you to do these:
1- remove the main hard drive and only connect "250GB lacie porsche hard drive".
and see is it recognized or not.
2- go to the bios (with pressing "delete key" at start of turning on) and navigate to power center.
then enable power saving mode.
