If the VCR tape has copy protection on it, I could see it doing this.

Want to record VHS to DVD on my Toshiba DVR620KU but do not want to connect to my TV set. Is this possible? My TV is older and does not have the input/output jacks. I just want to put in a VHS tape and a...

If the entire VHS is full then you can easily transfer the VHS contents to the DVD. The video will play while it is recording onto the DVD, but you don't have to have it hooked up to any TV for it to record. Now if you don't know how long the VHS content is that you want to record to DVD, then you will have to hook up the player to a TV so that you can press stop when you reach the end of the content you want recorded. At least this is true in the way that I use to transfer VHS to DVD:

1) Turn on the unit
2) Insert VHS tape
3) Insert DVD-+R or DVD-+ RW
4) Using remote, press VCR
5)Using remote, press play then pause the tape where you want to start recording.
6)Using remote, press DVD
7) Using the remote, press DUBBING. The VHS should start to play and the DVD should start recording

When using this method, don't hit the RECORD button!

I hope this helps!

In February, someone asked: "When

What are the tapes that you are trying to copy? are there genuine copies of films? YES THEY COULD BE COPY PROTECTED how they do that? simple they record the tape with the most minimum srength of signal, if you try to copy it you lose signal strength trough the copy process than the video looks a bit scrambled/discoloured and the sound is bad, if it's the case you could buy a video signal booster (if still available in stores) than you have to copy with a VCR that is separated from the DVD recorder so that you can install the booster from the output of the VCR to the input of the DVD recorder.

Hope it helps!

I record a DVD from VCR tape and try to play on another device

In my research, I learned about finalizing the DVD, which was a new concept to me. I looked that process up in the manual and it did the trick.

Magnavox MWD 2205 dvd/vcr player won't record more than one show on timer

this is a common repair if when you press play on a tape and the the tape stops
it is a slipping belt or there is a clutch disk that starts slipping when it wears down

if it is only not recording the time recording then there could be something wrong with the timming circut. unplugging for a while can reset this. if not it needs repair

dirty head would result in snowy , messed up picture
dirty roller that pulls the tape will result in tapes eaten , tape stop and machine lockup

VCR tape playback not good

Check your "tracking" If the tape played fine in the old machine, then tracking is the answer, provided that the new machine records good.

DRC 8335 Playing Back VCR Recordings in a Fast Forward State

I bought mine yesterday and am having the same issues. No solution listed in the user manual to fix this and I have a rather extensive VHS tape library that I was hoping to move to DVD using this unit. Unable to watch any VHS tapes taped on my Panasonic VCR and it seems as if the tape is slipping. Tracking buttons don't fix anything. I found a blank spot at the end of the tape and taped something and it comes out fine. Could this have something to do with it being a 6 head VCR? Tapes are in SLP mode.

Transfering vhs to dvd

Is the vhs tape copy protected? I think you can only copy your own vhs tapes or what you record on tv. I could be wrong though.
