Kindle fire charging port replacement

Jillian, Check warranty, I beleive should be one year, call manufacturer right away if under warranty. Option 2 Have charger port replaced at a computer/cell phone repair shop. Check links below and see how they fixed this issue.

If the kindl is new or within warranty return it to Amazon for a refund or replacement.

Did you turn the Kindle Fire on immediately after inserting the charger?
The battery may be so low that it will not operate until after it has charged for more than 24 hours.
If that is the case, it is also possible that the battery life has been permanently compromised and won't last long even if you finally get it to work.

It is also possible that the charging port on the bottom edge of the Kindle Fire has been damaged...possibly from forcibly inserting a charging cable upside down. If the port is damaged, the cable would not make contact properly and would not charge.

USING THE DEVICE EXCESSIVELY WITH THE CHARGER PLUGGED IN WILL DETERIORATE THE BATTERY'S LIFE CYCLE. IF YOU ASK YOURSELF AND KNOW THAT YOU HAVE DONE THIS.... I AM GOING TO BE HONEST WITH YOU,... YOU NEED A NEW BATTERY... ALSO., EXCESSIVE CHARGING WILL WEAR OUT THE CHARGING PORT. HAVE YOU TRIED A NEW CHARGER???

I see a trend here, get another charger and be gentel with the cables they are fragle.

have you tried a new charger?? the contacts on your charger plug may be dirty....or the contacts on your kindle charging port may be dirty. Go to YOUTUBE and see how to clean a mini usb charging port, and or charging plug.

First of all, the port next to the charging port is a mini HDMI port for connecting your Kindle to a TV. As far as your broken charging port, you can either send it out for repair or repair it yours self. You may need a new power cord or it is possible that your Kindle Fire's battery has died. If you noticed the battery life diminishing before it wouldn't charge this may be the case. Here is a site that has replacement batteries for the Kindle Fire:

If you last charged it with the computer USB port, try charging with the supplied AC adapter instead. If you last charged with the computer USB port, try charging with the AC adapter this time. This will help isolate a bad AC adapter / power cord or USB cable / USB port.
