Samsung side by side srs580dw stops freezing and chilling
Our fridge has done this same thing twice now. It runs fine for a few weeks and then all of a sudden the freezer and fridge stop working. We can still here motors and fans running and the indicators or the front work although the temp will not show that it is going up it stays at the temp it was whe when it quit, ie -20 and 3. Then all of a sudden three days later it starts up again for no reason. What can we do to resolve this please!
I see that this is a maytag schematic, does that mean that saumsung is made by them? Also, is this a part that we could put in ourselves? All of a sudden this morning the fridge is at -13 and 0 degrees and is feeling cold but the freezer isn't getting any colder than that. Thanks again, it seems to us that we are finally on the right track now after having gotten and repair bill for 300 for putting in new sensors. cheers!I see that this is a maytag schematic, does that mean that saumsung is made by them? Re:
Since the temps on the display don't show correctly I'd assume something is wrong with that. If the temps are sending info out that the unit is OK and at proper temp (when it's not) then the compressor won't turn on because it thinks the fridge is cold enough. Soooo... I'd suspect that control board. It's item 48 on this diagram

Yup, the different companies use other companies to make their products. Like Kenmore is not really Kenmore, it can be Amana, GE, Maytag, etc. Ya never know till you order parts and see what brand the OEM part is.Yup, the different companies use other companies to make their products. Most refrigerators get their cooling from the freezer. I suggest that you give it some time, and make sure the small door or damper leading from the freezer to the fridge is open and not obstructed by any food items
Usually that is from the water line freezing up. Behind your refrigerator drawers there is either a plastic tank or a coil of plastic tube........That is where the water runs so your dispenser puts out chilled water. If your fridge gets too cold that will form ice inside and stop the water from flowing. You can defrost it with a hair dryer or just let the fridge sit open for a few hours. Another thing could be the water valve. When you press the water lever on the dispenser do you hear a noise? Kind of a humming noise. Well, that is your water valve, so if you hear it then it is probably working.
go ahead and take and hold in the top two button until the unit blinks and resets the controller. Please don't rate this unitl the problem is solved because i can't come back and answer any more questions then. Also if this fix's please rate this solution please. Thanks for usin FixYa
