I just purchased this DVD player today, but bought it used so I can't just return it. I plugged it in and everything was working fine. I watched a movie for 45 minutes, and then then it just stopped. The screen on the DVD player still said the time of how far I was into the movie (frozen at 43 minutes and some seconds). The screen on my TV was just blank, as though there was no imput to it. I waited a minute or so, and then I tried turning it off and turning it back on. The only thing that does anything is that the little red power light comes on and goes off. Nothing appears on the screen on the DVD player anymore. The open/close button and the play button just make the red light turn off. The stop button doesn't do anything. The remote will only turn the power on and off. I have tried using a different power outlet, and nothing changed. I have tried turning it off and on. Nothing has changed about the condition, and nothing has come across the screen of the player since I first turned it off when it froze at 43 minutes into my movie. The red light will just stay on as long as I don't push anything. It is a steady light, not blinking. The DVD tray hasn't opened since I first put the DVD in, and now it won't open so I can take the DVD back out. Please help me! I don't know what else I can try, so I'm very open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance for anything!
Sounds like the power supply in the dvd player has failed. It works just well enough to turn on the led infront but as soon as you go to do anything it shuts off. This is common in cheaper dvd players. Unless you can troubleshoot electronics. Or know someone that can. Your best bet is to unplug the unit and disassemly and retrieve your dvd.

Thanks Marv for the suggestion, but I've got more info that makes me believe it might not be the power supply. But maybe it still is...
I unplugged the DVD player for the last couple of nights, and tried it again in the mornings. The first time I tried it, it powered up enough to open and close the dvd tray, then it just stayed on the loading screen until I turned it off.
The second time I tried it, it worked for just a little while. I opened and closed the tray. It said Loading for a few seconds, and then the FBI warning came on the screen! It got through that, and then it asked me if I wanted to skip the previews. I pressed the button on the remote to skip it, and it was trying to load the dvd menu screen when it froze again. It was just like what happened the first time, except this time instead of 43 minutes it froze on 4 seconds. The 00:00:04 stayed up on the dvd screen until I turned the dvd player off. Before I turned it off, I tried the open/close button, the stop button, and the play button, but none of them had any effect.
I do not know if this changes whether or not it is probably because of the power supply. But at the very least I know that if I unplug the unit overnight it will power up enough to give me my DVD back.
Thanks for any help, I'm very confused by this dvd player...
