They are known for coil in distributor to go or I banged my head for a month to realize my wife moved my steering wheel tilt so I moved it back where I had it and it fired right up after a month of sitting and me checking almost everything. Obviously I had a short in the ignition. Tilt your steering wheel up and down when ya crank it over.

The distributor is a common problem in the 3rd gen camrys. Also if it has tilt check that you don't have a short in ignition. I have a 95 and it would crank but no fire I could smell gas and got little spark so the car sat for a month couldn't fig it out so seen my steering wheel tilted from my wife driving and decided to tilt it back where I would have it and it fired right up havnt tilted the wheel at all and car fired every time since.

SOURCE: car wont start, not getting spark

crankshaft sensor, or computer on toyotas then it was usually the distributor or the computer, but the crankshaft sensor might be bad too thats what helps to get you spark.

SOURCE: 91 camry starts and shuts off when put in drive or reverse

I was an ASE master auto tech for 13yrs and have seen this problem before. It sounds like the idle air control valve on the intake manifold has stopped working and the idle speed is not being controlled(letting the engine idle too slow which causes a stall when put under a load such as putting it in gear). Try giving it a little throttle while putting it in gear if that works let off the throttle if it dies you will know the Idle Air controll is not working.

ABSOLUTELY that's the only other component that controls the spark, on this vehicle that the ignition control module. Good Luck

check for spark if you do not have spark and thie problem u are having now is the same as original problem it is most likely the ignition module also check to make sure distributer shaft / rotor turns while cranking also check rotor if it is burnt it can cause this also check for moisture under distributer cap if wet spray with brake clean and air dry

My 95 camry wont start but its turning over

check the rotor, inside the cap , if its burned or worn at all replace it, while checking this also check the contact points inside the cap , ( check these first , you don't mention which motor you have so going past this won't help, but if you reply to this feed, I will assist you ,, your problem could be either spark or fuel,, this is the easiest thing to check, I have 3 Camry's in my family, and the book, so let me know

To get a tune up on m 95 cadillac deville what parts do I need.

I would start by getting spark plugs and spark plug wires. And find out (through part store)what the gap is for your plugs. Then i would replace the cap and rotor and check your air filter. If you have over 60,000 miles i would also change the trans.filter and fluid

Spark plugs
Spark plug wires
Distributer cap
Rotor (if applicable)
Air Filter ?

What are the steps to follow when youre going to install a 1991 Toyota Camry 2.0l Distributor,

Take the screws out of distributer cap, mark exactly where the rotor is pointing with paint pen on distributer cap and distributer. Loosen bolts holding down distributer. Lift out distributer after you unplug electrical wires. Place new distributer in place making sure rotor is pointing to exact same place where the old one pointed. Replace distributer cap and electrical wires and your done, try to start the car.If car starts your ok.If it doesnt start andd backfires it means rotor is in wrong place, take back out and restab it.good luck

1/ Have you fitted the spark plug leads in the proper firing order.
2/ Look inside the top of distributor Top (this is not the first time a new distributer cap has very small crack) or the rotor arm is fitting the cap properly. Hope this helps Best Wishes, Malcolm Campbell.

95 fordc tauras gl 3.8 engine cranks but wont start has fuel pressure does cap and rotor have anything to do with it or timing belt gone .

cap and rotor affect spark so YES... this could be your concern

you need three things to start your car... Fuel, Spark and Compression PLUS they have to be in time

However, the two options you have are very differnt

No spark will not be similar to a broken timing belt

With no spark or no fuel the engine will sound "normal" when cranking

A broken timing belt would present it self as a FAST crank no start concern

No spark in 93 toyota camry 4cyl

The Toyota 4 cylinder engines have a problem with the electronic units inside the distributor. You will need to replace the entire distributor to fix the problem. You can get aftermarket distributorsat ebay or similar sites for alot cheaper than the originals. It's an easy swap that will take about an hour to do if you are mildly mechanically inclined.
